Gopro 2

Just out of curiosity - why not hero 3? The Hero 3 Silver is best in terms of value or money imho, unless you think you'll need the remote control (it is more expensive to buy the Silver and rc separate than buying the Black version which comes with it....), or you think you will be shooting in low light or some slow motion stuff. The maximum of 4k resolution on the Black edition is just a gimmick at this point, especially because of the laughably low fps...

I've just nabbed one over in USA cost 199 dollars couldn't be happier that was inc stand etc

I don't think so, the Black will definitely be dearer, yes but the Silver shouldn't be. The 3 is just that little bit better again and double so if you have an iPhone as you can download an app and control it remotely using your phone wifi which you can't do with Hero 2. I think I'll end up buying the Black as I could do with the remote and I really need the best low light performance I can get. If you can get a second hand Hero 2 on the cheap then by all means, they are great little cameras, but personally I wouldn't buy a new one these days.

Couple reasons I was thinking a 2,
Happy with a used one as tryin to keep cost down!
An also heard couple issues with the 3s!
Like bad battery life an files lost!
But that may only be couple!!

Will be using it to film in car an also on our drift trikes so used on a helmet!

Any advice be ideal!new to video cams!!

We've sold quite a few at work, I also tried the Hero 3 Black we have at work for testing purposes and did not have any issues at all, neither have I heard of any from any of our customers. That obviously doesn't mean there are no issues tho! One advantage of the Hero 2 is that it has a mic jack so you can plug an external mic straight in for better sound recording. Hero 3 series requires an adapter for that. Hero 3 is smaller and lighter so will be slightly better suited to wearing on a helmet. Try fleabay and you might get a good deal on a second hand one! Unfortunately like all highly sought after stuff even the second hand units are not exactly cheap...

Oh cool, nice to speak to someone who deals with them!!

Well prob keep lookin down second hand route as ££ bit tight but got couple hundred to put on one!!

Cheers :)

Contour hd is good..

Its good yeah , but only marginally cheaper and hero 3 and it beats it hands down , better to spend some more $$ and buy the 3 silver i too was convinced about buying the 2 hd but then decided to get the 3 black , at this stage im just gonna get the silver as it's best value for money for anything an "amateur" user might use
