Tried searching but couldn't really find much info

Power goal 370bhp if it's achievable with the above turbo's

Which turbo will be best from the above 2 I want something quick spooling. Car is a DD. At the moment it's 310bhp on a t28.

Also would it be ideal to fit a complete b18c type R head? At the moment it has ek9 cams in it

I've had a gt2860 rs
I'm not sure you'll hit 370hp with that turbo tbh. If you did your at it's max so I'd go with the 71r

Thanks for the input. What power did you make with Gt2860rs if you don't mind me asking. What sort of power will the gt2871r be capable of?

Mine was on a 2L astra boosting around 19psi made 330hp. That was the engines limit though.
I had the smaller housing option aswell. Iirc the bigger housing 60rs is capable of 360hp.

If you check out the compressor maps on the garret website you can work out the max.

The garret website says
60rs larger housing upto 360hp
71r larger size upto 475hp.

Thanks for the help. So the gt2871r will be the better option then. Any idea how turbo lag this will have? I want something quick spooling with no lag if possible.

The gt series ball bearing turbos are very good. You can only help by having a 3inch downpipe and big intercooler piping(2.5" or greater)
I can't put a number on what rpm you'll see max boost at for various reasons, engine spec, boost level, above piping sizes etc.
With a turbo that can make over 400hp your going to get lag, unless you've got a big engine. If it's a vtec engine? You've got so much rpm to use that it almost doesn't matter if you aren't making max boost 500rpm earlier.

At the moment this is my setup

B18c4 engine block is stock
Ek9 cams ( will be changing to a complete type r head soon)
Skunk2 ultra series Street inlet
70mm tb
T28 turbo
2.7" downpipe
3" exhaust system
Hks log manifold
2.5" intercooler pipes
It made 310bhp @ 0.5bar

I am wanting at least 370bhp with which ever turbo I go for but don't want it to be 2 laggy instant power is what am looking for lol.

Anyone else have any ideas? If I was to go for the gt2871r at what rpm will this hit full boost

310 is impressive at only half a bar.
I can't tell you the exact rpm it's going to come in, I don't have that level of experience with these engines and that turbo.
Your best bet is to pick a power goal and then go a check out the compressor maps of all the turbos within your goal. Your looking for your power goal to be close to the middle island on the map.
Someone more experienced will be along soon to help you out.
I'd PM vtec6000 if it was me asking the questions...

Just use a 3076R, it will spool quick enough and hit like a hammer. if thats not an option for you at minimum go with the 2871.

Dont worry about lag with a 2871r, thats a fairly small turbo for a honda. Remember you have quite a large rpm range to keep the turbo spooled.
