hello was about to go down and buy this ek9 type r Honda Civic Type R EK9 for sale in Kerry : €4,300 - DoneDeal.ie when i noticed that the small blue plate (with ek9 type r on it) that is normally under the bonnet at front of engine bay was not there also it comes up in insurance companys as a ek4 sir but i think one company went further into it and said it was a ek9 type r the owner is going to fax a copy of the logbook which he said says ek9 on it but not type r just wondering is any of this normal or should i stay away

check it again the number on the bulkhead under the windscreen that should tell you what you want to know

how do you mean man? i know the bulkhead should hav chassis number there but i was wondering why it does not have the blue plate does any1 know this car at all? also any tips on what too look out for when going to look at one and how to spot if its a genuine type r?

The bit that seperates the engine from cabin, vertical part.

yep, just straight above the intake mani on the firewall will be a long series of numbers and some letters. An ek9 will have ek9 in those somewhere near the start, if not there will be ek4, ej9 et. But that car looks like a ek9, could have been rusting up front or a small whack and have be touched up?

so if chassis number on bulkhead matchs logbook and engine number matchs logbook then it should be ok? was askin him on phone there and he said it never had the blue plate on it and he does not think type rs have the blue plate only ek4s hav it he said

It has most likely had the slam panel replaced which could mean it has had a front end crash at some point.

theres better goin for that kind of money mate, where in ireland are ya? if your around the dublin area and your not 100% about them i wouldnt mind goin for a look with you

negatives about that one for the money, high enough milage, although probably genuine milage, its prefacelift, a bit overpriced for the money, the steering wheel is not original . and he doesnt have anything about an alarm on there. you need a clifford if your gonna have one of these pal!

Wow these cars are cheap in Ireland :/ +1 should be another serial on bulkhead

1997 Jdm Honda Integra Dc2 Type R for sale in Antrim : £3,870 - DoneDeal.co.uk

its absolutely immaculate. i would much prefer this than paying over the odds for a 98 spec that could be wrecked!

yea i know what ya mean lad but im lookin a clean original one that one looks like a young felle cuda bin dogging her

you can be guaranteed a car like this has been dogged at some stage throughout its life, it doesnt rev to 9000 for nothing pal. the engines are built for high revs, and to be honest most 00 EK9's would be expensive, so you would have to have had money to buy it, and if u spent that kind of money you wouldnt mind givin it oil changes etc ya kno? where as ek4s and vti's would be bought cheap and ran into the ground, maybe even 97 ek9's and possibly 98 ones, but facelift ones are dearer so only a certain type of person would be able to afford and own one a few years ago ya know?

yea i have seen that car on both gumtree and donedeal and seen it in the for sale section here have commented on it and told him the story lol i wish i could buy it but at the price he is askin im looking at 3850 pounds which is 4800 euros and then the vrt is at the very least an extra 1000 euro so your looking at 5800 for a 97 integra i cant afford that tbh and if i could i would prob go for a dc5 as they seem too be going for around 6000 these days it looks like an absolute minter tho

u can have my car for 3250 :) passed NCT today!

but on a serious note, watch out for fake EK9s up there cos a lot of people imported the Vti's when it was cheap and just made very good replicas.
