Help Please!

I fitted a set of SPC (are these Eibach) LCA's last night but when I was doing it I noticed both my rear trailing arm bushes and both rear wheel bearings are totally feckd so I have ordered new sets to change them. Also noticed the previous owner of my car never had OEM honda bolts on both sides where the LCA attaches under the brake disc. Anyway I fitted the new arms and put it all back together got it all treble checked. BUT when I drove the car it felt like it was trying to go back on itself. like the back end wanted to snake, or was gona drift away. especially under breaking and bad grinding noises coming from both sides. what could it be??:

1. are LCA's sided i.e. do they have to put on a certain set side as i may have fitted them round the wrong way?

2. will it be my worn trailing arm bushes that are causing it?

3. will the worn rear wheel bearings be causing it?

4. Could it be the wrong bolts that are causing it?

5. Could the new arms have caused my alignment to go seriously wrong as I had it set up professionally with the old arms on?

Worn trailing arms cause passive rear steering and lack of stability. The compensator arms bolted to the end of the trailing arms are used to adjust the toe via the position they are bolted to the underside of the car, thus any play in the trailing arm bushes causes excessive toe change during driving and especially braking

Grumbling noises are just the wheel bearings I would assume, especially if they are as shagged as you say

Guessing the new LCA are polly bushed? If so then since these bushes are new they are just emphasizing the wear in other components, the old LCA bushes were probably goosed and were absorbing the vibrations off the wheel bearings

Did you torque the LCA bolts with the suspension loaded? If not then you are preloading the bushes and can cause odd things to happen as well as accelerated wear on the new bushes

Once you get the new RTA bushes and wheel bearings in, have the alignment checked, will show up anything else which is not quite right

And no, not even the standard LCA are sided
 
the SPC arms are shorter than factory, only for use with lowered vehicles with negative camber to correct the camber iirc,somone correct me if im wrong here???
 
It well could be be your rear trailig arm bushes , I was driving my car with both RTA bushes severly perished and the back end had a mind of its own snaking and kicking out and quite a few scary noises...

Yea the new LCA's are poly bushed so you will be exactly right!:win:

yes we torqued them with the suspension loaded. but we will take the LCA's off when the new bushes go in and make sure its correct! I have ordered 2 new wheel bearings from Honda but they are on back order till May!:((

Yup alignement at CLCM is defo next on the agenda!

Are SPC owned by Eibach or other way round?

Yes you are correct in what you say as thats exactly what is warned on the instructions with LCA's. My car is lowered 35mm on eibach springs and I have front and back buddyclub camber arms so I will get it all set up once the new bushes are in!:bow:

Thats exactly what felt like mine where doing. the bushes should be with me monday, get them fitted, new LCA bolts in and get the alignment done and hopefully it will be back to normal!

neither, SPC is an independent company that makes high end suspension parrts, they make the same part under the SPC brand, eibach just buys and relabels them.

could anyone tell me the torques settings/specs for the rear LCA's and Rear Trailing Arms please?:D
 
There is an integra pdf manual in the download section of duncan's website (fastjapcars.com) the teg suspenion and torque values are very similar to EK9 ones. (Used this on the weekend when fitting my coilovers)

right got this sorted at last! :) changed the RTA bushes to OEM honda, new bolts, etc, changed drop links to OEM honda also, got my new rear SPC LCA's properly fitted with new bolts too, fitted new OEM honda rear wheel bearings, got my Buddyclub front and rear camber arms renewed by BC UK and fitted stronger 12.9 grade allen key bolts, copper slipped the bolts, greased the bushes and waxoyled the arms themselves to stop them rotting again then got a full camber, castor and toe alignment at CLCM! The car feels perfect! :)

Thank god this is done at last, no more clunking, squeeking, banging, whining noises!! just the sweet sound of tec from my new custom 2.5 exhaust system with apexi N1 backbox!! :) :) :) I will get pics up soon! :)
