hi lads . my car has failed the nct twice on high co2 emissions . your allowed to have 0.3%volume max and my car has 0.7%. i have tried numerous things to fix this and then went to my local mechanic to check the emissions and it is always staying at around the 0.7% volume mark . i have tried 3 different cats so this is not the problem . i have checked the map sensor and its fine . i have replaced the o2 sensor (the engine light was not on but i done a diagnostics anyway and it threw up a fault code for the 02 sensor so i replaced it and now the car is not throwing up any fault codes) . i also replaced the air filter . .has anyone got any ideas or also experienced this problem . i really need an nct as you can now get on the spot penalty points at side of road as well as the fine . (thanks to everyone who replied to me in my other thread when i thought it was just a new cat i needed)

my brother got his dc2 a treatment of seafoam, helped lowered the emissions alot. worked for him after he changed out o2 sensor and filters as you have.

i tried redex before the nct . would seafoam be kind of on a par with this or would it be much better ??

What lambda reading are you getting ?

my lambda reading is 1.01 so is perfect . low idle hydrocarbons are 196ppm and high idle are 128ppm so they are reading fine aswell . just my co2 reading wrong

yea i think i am going to have to go down that route mate :(

are you testing it when the cat is properley warmed up? they need to be HOT to work right.

when i was having trouble i chucked in a bottle of forte petrol system cleaner and thrashed the car then went back and it passed

yea i have done all that mate but at more than double the emissions its not doing a thing for me ! :(

it made a good job on my brothers dc2, significantly improved his fuel usage too. Not quite sure how it works though, think he took it to a garage and the stuff was fed through the engine with the petrol. not sure if it was added to the oil? Its supposed to remove a lot of the carbon build up in the engine/exhaust system.
