Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire
Condition: Used
Description: Sorry for long comprehensive advert!

GENERAL
I bought my EK9 back in September 2008, as I had no luck in finding a suitable example that was for sale in the Country at that time. This was a private import which I saw on the Japanese auction sites, and I had Andy at 200 BHP Cars to sort out all the shipping/SVA/paper work, etc. for me.

Being a 4.5 auction grade, and with 52,231 km’s on the clock upon arrival in the UK.
This is a late production EK9 and rolled off the production line during Novemebr 2000.
I’ve still got the original Japanese service history, and I’m the first UK owner.
Comes with the usual factory fitted options, PAS, EW, AC, Retractable Mirrors, Factory Tinted Rear Glass, Carbon Effect Trim (heater knob/stereo surround), RX Alloy Pedals, Momo Steering Wheel, Red Racaro Seats, Red Fabric Door Cards, ABS, SRS Air Bags, Wind Deflectors, etc.

It was service by 200 BHP Cars before my collection. Otherwise it’s mainly looked after by TGM in Hampshire. I carry out the interim oil change (6 months from main service) myself, for peace of mind knowing that there is clean oil in the engine.
This car has been serviced regardless of cost, and many things changed are because not that it needs it, it’s just me being picky/fussy and keeping up with maintenance schedules.

Never has this car been driven hard from cold (initial engine start up), I always make sure the engine is warmed up sufficiently before engaging VTEC. Mature owner in my 30’s and a genuine Honda enthusiast.

Number of Previous Owners: I’m the 1st UK owner
Mileage: 80,700 (miles will go up, as this is my daily vehicle)
Tax: until 31/08/2013
MOT: until 05/09/2013

V5 Vehicle Registration Document available.

I’m in Oxford during the weekdays and in tiny village near Tunbridge Wells on most weekends.

Genuine reason for sale!
May I stress, please no time wasters and test pilots.
Don’t bother sending me a text messages making random offers, as these will be deleted without a response.
If you are genuinely interested in the car, then we can speak directly on the phone and go from there! Anyone test driving the car must bring along a valid proof of insurance and driving licence, otherwise I’ll be doing the driving.

Any profressional independant inspection welcome!

Selling price of £6,250 – Available now!

Simon

EXTERIOR
This is a daily driver (used all year round), so there is the normal wear and tear associated with stone chips, small scuffs, faint line scratches, minor scuffs under then front valance, etc.
All defects will be highlighted in the pictures via my photobucket account. However, these imperfections are very minor, but I’m being genuinely honest (descriptive as possible) and don’t want to waste anybody’s time, especially if you’re going to be travel long distances to view the car! I'll be more than happy to point out every known defect that I know of on the body work.

Upon being imported from Japan, it went straight into the work shop of Andy’s @ 200 BHP Cars, who fully cleaned and under sealed the underneath to ensure protection against UK roads and salt.

The body work is regularly clayed, polished and waxed, so is silky smooth to touch, no grainy contaminates embedded into the paintwork.

To ensure that the exterior looks right, I visit a very highly reputable dent removal company at least once a year (The Dent Clinic) to have any dings/dents removed from people who can’t open their doors without hitting another car. I already just been to have 2 very minor dents removed, so the car is in tip top condition for viewing. I travel over an hour just for this company’s services, so this is how highly I rate their work.

Replacement pre-painted Front Bumper and Front Valance/Splitter ordered direct from Johnson’s Honda. This was replaced due to my car being parked stationary in a car park at work, and a vehicle drive past too close and scuffed the front end. The only damage was cosmetic (took number plate off, scratched and scuffed the paint work, and cracked the bumper), but I decided against getting the existing bumper and valance repaired and re-sprayed, and bought brand new (took about 3 months for arrival from Japan).

Windscreen and windscreen seal is new, again ordered direct from Johnson’s Honda with a 3 months waiting time, as I didn’t want a generic pattern windscreen. Damaged by kids playing catch with a massive gas works bolt, but failed to catch it and landed on my windscreen. It was fitted 3 times by Auto Windscreens, as I wasn’t happy with their work (through the insurance), so I ended up paying out to have a local independent windscreen company to rectify their shoddy work (now perfect).

Rear Fog Light has been installed into the O/S Rear Light Cluster, not a big ugly rectangle rear fog light cut and installed into the rear bumper.

Front bumper and rear number plate recess has never been drilled into, only double-sided adhesive pads have been used to affix the number plates.

Common question about Honda and rusty rear arches?
There is no rust on the rear aches, as I regular clean the arches/under carriage to remove any grim/muck/salt from the roads.

The original 15” OEM EK9 alloys where refurbished back in 2009, they are perfectly straight/no buckles/not egg shaped/kerbing, just small areas where it’s been stone chipped (but touched up with CW paint), and minor marks at the top of the rim where the tyre fitter hasn’t been too careful. The refurbishment was old paint stripped and repainted (not powder coated).

Tyres at the front are fitted with Bridgestone RE01R’s with about 2.5mm to 3mm of tread remaining.
Tyres at the rear are Yokohama AD08’s with about 6mm+ of tread remaining. These were fitted late in autumn/start of winter and have seen very little road use, as these summer wheels are stored and swopped out with my winter wheels when the weather gets rubbish.
Only stick-on weights have been used to balance the wheels. Tyre size retaining OEM specification of 195/55/15’s.
Two (2) brand new Yokohama AD08’s will be included in the sale, as the existing Bridgestiones (fronts) only have a couple of 1,000 miles of life remaining on them.

N/S Rear Light Cluster is brand new Honda OEM, as the old one had a defect with the silver paint on the inside was flaking.
The traditional scenario with Barbie pink Honda badges front and rear where replaced with OEM Honda items, to bring back red badges.

INTERIOR
All in very good condition! Regularly hovered and seat protectors used when the car goes into for its service/tyres, etc. Interior is regular dressed with a non-silicone UV protector, to reduce the bleaching effect from the sun and to protect the dash/plastics.

The steering wheel has wear marks on the right hand-side of where you grip/hold (wear from the previous owner).
Driver seat bolster/fabric area on the right hand-side (where your right hip is when sitting in seat), there is some wear marks where it has come away from the material, and 1 thread has been pulled (wear and tear previous owner). All very minor, but you can see in the pictures.
The passenger seat is in very good condition. Normal common questions with the seat bolsters, so I’ll address it now. I’ve replaced the outer one on the driver seat. All the seat bolsters are in good condition.

Driver side floor mat, where your heel rest, there is the normal wear, as you can see from the carpet pile as it’s flatter then the surrounding area.
These are a replacement genuine Honda OEM set which took me over 6 months to find in Japan, and they are the best that are available that I could possible find.
The 5 piece mats are shampooed and fabric guarded every year, to maintain their good condition.

N/S rear interior panel was replaced with an OEM Honda item, ordered directly from Johnson’s Honda, and took a long time to arrive from Japan. Small 2” crack where the seat belt is, so I replaced it. Rear interior panels exposed when the boot is open, there are the normal marks there from where I’ve had bags/stuff/shopping in the boot.

The rear seats are rarely sat on by anyone, and more used for putting my coat/jacket there.
Space saver spare wheel and tool kit has never used.

Fitted with a Pioneer DEH-P77MP Player (CD Player). Up-rated front and rear speakers, with wire adaptors (no cut/soldered/spiced speaker wires).

Genuine Honda OEM black EK9 parcel shelf, which is more charcoal dark grey now! Purchased brand new, as the old one was really faded. No holes cut out for speakers and all retaining pins/clips present.

To reduce rattles, anything that could be potentially loose (i.e. cables, plugs attachments, etc.) has been cable tied/stuck down with gaffer tape to eliminate any unwanted noises.

I'm a non-smoker and no passengers have every smoked within the car.

SECURITY
Category 1 Alarm/Immobiliser fitted, which has been 100% reliable, never had any false alarms, or malfunctions.
Two working key fobs (just changed the battery of 1 of the fobs), and have original certificate of installation available. Brand and model upon request (this is a premium brand of alarm fitted).

Honda OEM Wheel Locking Nuts fitted all round, with locking wheel nut key.

Two original Honda keys.

ENGINE & GEAR BOX
No internal modified engine components, original as it came out from the factory.

The engine;

Start-up first time from cold or hot
No smoke of any concerning colour on start-up
Revs smoothly throughout the entire rev range
Engages VTEC eagerly
Smooth idle
Perfect working cold start
Radiator fan engages at correct engine temperature
No excessive usage of engine oil
No oil/fluid leaks
Oil is regular changed using only Silkolene PRO S 4W-40 Ester Synthetic Oil
Only high octane petrol has been put into the petrol tank

The negative is cosmetically is the famous flaking/peeling from one of the bottom edges of the red wrinkle paint on the cam cover (common issues with all Honda cam covers).

The Gear Box;

Regular MTF 3 transmission fluid change
Doesn’t grind/crunch into gears
Smooth gear changes
No jumping out of gears

The sale is with the OEM EK9 alloys. The Honda Access (winter wheels) alloys are currently advertised seperately. However, I'm sure I could work out a very good deal if someone wanted the EK9 and the winter wheels together :woot:

Thanks everone, I thought that I'll try to cover all aspects and to give any potential buyer a full in-depth description of the car for sale. Once the new pictures with additional descriptions have been added, it then give a better visual picture.

Didn't want to waste any potential buyers time if they came to view the car and was presented with something as not described. As we're all been there, taken time out to view a car, and it's been a right disappointment.

Wow! Greatest for sale thread ever lol. Car looks clean and well taken care of.

GLWS

What a car got to be one of the cleanest out there. And those seats look spotless  Best of luck with sale hope it goes to someone that will take the same amount of care.

Sorry for the lack of updates to this thread!

Now available for sale with new photos, private plate & winter wheels removed, summer OEM wheels back on with sticky rubber, and full interior/exterior valet :) ...

Hi Martin... Yes the car is still for sale.

I tried to pm you but I don't seem to be able to as I've not had enough enough posts (joined yesterday specifically to have a look at this car) how far up the country would you be willing to meet of we came to a deal on the car? I'm from dumfries so it's a fair trek! Thanks

Hi Martin… Thanks for your interest in the car. Any potential buyers have to come to me, as I've been with mates and we have travelled to Scotland to get a car before.

Thanks everyone who has called me expressing their interest in my car.
However, I can confirm that car is now SOLD!

Thanks :) I'm more than sure that the new owner will take good care of this little 9.

Hi All, just a quick note to say this will be back up for sale in a few weeks, just about to fill in the paperwork to remove my private plate.
Car is still in the excellent condition Simon left it in (I'm sure he'll be glad to know). Just thought I'd post on here first as I'd rather it go to someone genuine. If interested please PM me and I'll contact you when it's ready. All the information is covered in Simons original add, I've added my own CD player and everything else is as is apart from a fresh underseal. It's been looked after by performance autoworks in the time I've had it (servicing). I've only done about 5-6k in it in a year.....
Ta, Alex
