Your friend probably did something wrong. I can name a handful of people with EF's, with B16B's, and they run fine.

ya he was some random guy... wow sounds promising... even EF'S @ B16B? wow.... im interested in times!! cant wait for it...

How fast is my ek9? Enough.... What made you choose B16B? They're not that fast imho, just a bit faster than a healthy B16A in real life. Don't take me wrong I love mine, but wouldn't pick one for drag racing. Can't see why it shouldn't run properly in a CRX, the car doesn't care where the power comes from.

Low 14s on the 1/4 all going well. A well setup B16a will run the same times.

i wanna know some times i already saw some people some said their ek ran like 5.7 to 60 with A/C and stock engine... i just wanna know what you guys run...
well in the beginning i wanted to swap a b18c6 (EDM TYPER) but then i found the b16b real cheap with the s4c tranny with lsd... thats why i got it

how cant the b16b much faster than a b16a ? in germany the b16a1 has 150 hp and the b16a2 has 160 hp... b16b still has 25-35 hp more... can u compare a b16b to a b18c6 ? i know because of the pistons and crankshaft the b16b stays a 1.6 but is it really such a big difference to a b18c ??

B18C has a lot more torque compared to B16B. B16B has the potential to rev higher, but that potential is somewhat wasted in the stock motor as it doesn't rev high enough. They should have spent more money on the head and rev it higher (with different cams etc....) - 9k or more, but then that would make it a) more expensive b) probably less reliable.... If I ever build a B16B the way I want it that's what I'd do - upgrade valve train and run wilder cams and higher comp. The only sensible way of extracting more power out of the B16B (if you want to stay N/A). Thanks to the B18 block and B16 stroke the B16B has rod/stroke ratio of 1.84:1, that's fairly high for a production car.

i know. it has like 20 nm more but is that really such a big difference??
yeah oifovo sounds good... lets see what i will do... if i want to supercharge or boost it the b16b isnt a good engine right? first i will stay NA but lets see...

@zPandamoniumZz i know that crx'es are EFs too

mines fast.... very ******* fast! cant wait to split the head off it and see some mad cams or pistons haha but seriously its fast theyre a fast engine! i raced an ek4 siR with an apexi neo intake toda rep mani and a few other bits with a fairly chunky lad driving it and me with a standard b16b 4-1 mani aem coldair intake standard ecu 16'' itr wheels with 5 lads in the car inc. me and roasted the ek4 by 3 car lenghts.. either the ek4 had a bad engine which i highly doubt haha

I like to think mines pretty fast aswell.
Turbo 280hp lol
Tbh I'd say it depends on what you mean by fast.
Drag race fast? For what they are(n/a 1.6) they are pretty fast!
But in general, not really.
Track fast? Yeah I'd say they are pretty fast on track.

I ran 13.90 and did a 0-60 at 5.500 with my race base b18c ek9 breather mods and mapped by tdi north 215 bhp and 152 ft/lb of torque need to go back though now as running skunk2 cams high comp head gasket valve train and traction bar

That's pretty good going that!
How was the 0-60 calculated?

They have it at York a 0-60 run I was happy with that too lol can't wait go back but guna be boosted then so need to squeeze 1 in be4 I put all the turbo n that on see how it is with cams and fast road setup and traction bar

Not sure the turbos going to help lower that 0-60 too much tbh. I'd be happy with 5.5 out of my car lol

Na not after faster 0-60 pal just meaning with the head work n cams and traction bar I would be intreuged to see if it's made much difference but defo be quick down the straight with the turbo strapped on lol

Yeah I get yah.
Genuinely impressed with that, only car I've ever had on a drag strip was an astra 330hp 370ftlbs and I could only manage 13.5.

Never been on a drag strip. Can see how beating the clock gets addictive.

Unsure on my 0-60 time however K20 is fast on track and for me its where it matters.

I'm all about the track aswell, hence I've never been back since lol
