How much octane fuel do our engines really need?

I have been searching around and couldn't locate any posts , related to engine specs - that would specify the type of fuel Honda recommended for b16b - b18c type R engines.

I would greatly appreciate if someone has the knowledge on the above matter, and would like to share it please !

I always use the 100 octane fuel that we have in Cyprus.
Car runs with Fujita CAI , 5Zigen 4-2-1 Headers , Decat , and TRUST exhaust system.

Looking forward to hear your views on that !

:thanks:

Cheap 95 ron in my b20 at the mo, but theres no spark map and its just on a road tune.
Otherwise Vpower.

i would have guessed 99/100 as must if not all jdm spec petrol cars run on this in japan

Always run mine on vpower.
The s2000 had a warning sticker on the filler cap. Says use 98 Ron fuel only, and that was a uk spec car. My ek9 has Afew stickers in the petrol cap but they are in Japanese

In an ideal world 100 octane but
Here in ireland all we can get is 95 octane and hundreds of type rs have been fine not one engine went bang for using 95 octane in a standard type r as far as i know!
When getting car remapped they can tune to lower octane as far as i know

From my tuner -

It will make slightly more power on 99 than 95, but if tuned on the 99 then its unsafe to run on lower octane,

were not talking 10's of BHP more like 2-3bhp and a few ft lbs torque difference between 95 > 99

I always use tesco 99 or Shell V-Power.

as said above.

99 or 100 will be fine but even 98 will run just fine

just dont go mixing too many fuels now

lambda killer ;)
