hi guys :)
since a few months i have this Skunk2 carbon composite fuel rail laying around in my garage. and i thought it's time to mount it now. sadly i have no idea, im not a mechanic but i have some skills and i think im able to handle such a small bolt-on-parts-change :)
but i might need some advice: is there anything dangerous about this? can i blow the engine make some serious damage when changing this on my own?

how about the fuel ni the rail. is it on pressure when i remove it? will there only be a small leakage or squirt if i remove the fuel-line or should i be sure that the fuel tank is empty?
and how about the air in the fuel line after replacing the whole thing? just wait a few seconds until fuel pump has pumped in some new fuel when starting it the first time after change or how about that?

sorry, might be dumb questions, but it's the first time im doing something like this and i want to do it by my own without possibility of damaging anything or havning a big mess in the end :p

hope you can give me some advice, or maybe a little "how to" with the most important steps..

thanks and best regards from switzerland

Changing the rail is not hard.

You'll get a little squirt of fuel when you take off the fuel lines thats no biggy. The tank dosn't have to be empty just keep the fuel line up the way so no more drops out.

Unbolt the 10mm nuts holding it down and removed the injector harness from the top of it and the rail will just pull out. The injectors make come out with it of may stay in either way its no biggy.

Takes about 10 mins to do.

1st thing

MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COLD BEFORE YOU START THIS

thanks guys!
@ blinx - doesn't make me happy :) now im not sure anymore if i should do this at home because i don't have any fittings or replacement-things here and it would be uncool to me to disassamble the whole thing just to be sure nothing fits and put it back together like it was originally. Dang - pretty uncool. thought it's a state-of-the-art part... :(

Well if you do go for it make sure you have spare crush washers from Honda in case you have to give up and put the OEM one back on as the crush washers are NOT reuseable!!

Buy a Haynes manual :blinx: has nearly everything you need!

Not really, the skunk2 fuel rail does not get installed the same way as OEM or most fuel rails do, its completely different, if you read my post you will understand, its being composite also makes it very different and delicate to install error.

i do know you have to relieve the fuel pressure....i.e just unplug the connector from the fuel pump under the back seat, start the car and let it stall out/then wait til the engine is cold and go to work...
