how to make an ej9 handle like an ek9

If you want it to handle like an ek9 do what Kozy says. But if you want it to handle better that can be done for a little cheaper without the ek9 tax. Spend as much as you can on dampers that have been valved properly for the civic and some good rear Antiroll bar. I run bilsteins custom valved with a 25 mm adjustable rear arb and my civic out corners any or dc2 for a lot less money than buying an ek9 or converting to 9 spec

Save up dont modify the ej9 and get enough for an ek9

i wont get insured on an ek9 so im sticking to the ideas of how to make a ej9 handle better

I have done something like this to my ej9, suspension wise so I will let you know about the prices.
-26mm front swaybay (the same as ek4 one) bolt on if your ej9 has a front one 50e most
-ASR rear swaybar kit with 24mm swaybar (stronger and bigger rear swaybar, stronger end links) something around 300e but you can get cheaper ones if they are used
-for 150e you can get the whole package from energy suspension, uprated strong bushings better than oem and will last for life. You change almost any bushing existing on the car, it feels great, rigidity increase, responsive chassis etc
-reinforcement bars. the ek4 stock one costs 20euros to get it from honda dealers, there are thousands of them used on here and everywhere, the same with bumper bars.
-600-700pounds for a new decent coilover kit
-then if you want an alignement refinement you can get some caster or camber kit which doesn't cost a fortune too.

I think that with 1300-1500e most you can have a really sport tuned civic which does whatever you tell it to on the road. Agile, responsive, slightly oversteering etc..

The lsd is related to the engine output mainly. An ej9 with 120-130hp doesn't really need it. And bear in mind that an ej9 3door weighs from 950 to 1040 kg which is good for handling.

As "Fatbeerboy" said, spend as much as you can afford on some proper dampers, not this minister r,d2,cusco,bc bullshit! Decent dampers, adjustable anti roll bars and camber arms you will be sitting all over ek9's and alot of other stuff done properly if done properly!

Dont bother with all this crappy tie bar ****,x braces and all that either proper dampers are the way forward!

and what proper dampers are? konis and bilsteins?

correct, bilsteins being my person favourite, konis, oilins, nitron's,dampers which damp the correctly. The dampers i have mainly named above are ones in which alot of R&D go into unlike more of the chinese crap which have just a different brand on them.

Saying all that though its all about your budget and what exactly you want.

What's your budget? That is a good starting point and what are you going to use the car for? If its mostly road and you don't want it to low you don't need coilovers as you can use a good set of dampers and some spring which give you the correct ride height drop. If it is track only you can go for a stiffer set up and a different setting in the dampers. Adjustable arbs are good as you might find that the springs and dampers you go for could do with a stiffer or softer antiroll bar.

it'll be a road car with a lot of road racin done and the odd track day

All of which may improve the handling of a wallowy shopping trolley, but none of which will make it handle like an EK9.
.

Sorry this won't make it handle 'like an ek9' just telling you what in my experience will make it handle better , assuming you don't want to fully strip the car down to its bare chassis

yep im gone off the idea of an ej now and lookin for an ek4 sir shell that id be more than happy to strip down :D

First of all, buy (very) good tyres and change your silent blocks.

The most important part of the whole chassis and no one mentioned it, your ek9 is not going to handle as well on poo tires as a ej9 on slicks. The whole seam welded thing on an ek9 is a joke, a few extra stiches here and there, when my shits finished you will see a seam welded shell.

Ebay coilover sleeves and your set
Your car will absolutely handle like an ek9...

That's standing still!
