How to Remove AirCon from your EK9


specifiaclly looked for ek without air con option when i bought mine, guess i should have bought car without heaters as ek ones are almost useless
 
i have to say my heaters work a treat... Warm car up pretty fast compared to previously owned cars....

My one in the EG was spot on but my EK is pretty pants.
 
My heaters are AMAZING! heat the car up so fast! its my favourite part of the car! HAHA
 
well was thinking of doing this do you notice much power gain with it out
 
well this is prob a stupid qustions but i dont know the answer so here goes if i remove the whole ac from car will i still get air throught
the vents when buttom on dash is turned up thanks
 
yes! of course you'll still get air. you're only removing equipment that chills the air. The blower motor is completey seperate!

just got air con removed the whole lots weighs 18.5 kg for anyone wanting to know
 
if you just removed your pulley and belt and pipes an that from around engine would it have same affect? or do you have to remove the box from inside aswel??
 
Yes itll stop the parasitic drag but the weight will still be there. Also If you remove the pipes you might had well remove the pump as itll be exposed to the elements considering there is also some oil getting pumped around with the refridgerent to protect it from corrosion
 
will be removing it in the nest few days. well let u no how i get on with it. it should be the same for an ek4 ya??
 
Thinking of doing this soon due to the **** weather and having noting else to do as work is quiet..Just woundering how long it would take to complete it all

excellent write up, just noticed this! :) I see in the pics exactly what you mean where to look Will when looking for the leak and maybe getting the matrix out that way. thanks again! :)
