Hi guys

Who do you use for your imports? where is good to buy from other than the 3 mentioned in a previous post?

Although i heard of a problem with IBC Japans support, i have bought an EK9 from them and so far i havent had any problems, hopefully it will stay that way

So who do you recommend or know about that i may buy another ek9 or dc2 from?

i bought an ek9 from ibcjapan for a friend, and i had a lot of problems, i will never buy any car from them again.

another good provider is http://www.grahamberry2.co.jp great customer service, good price, and good cars, the owner tries to buy hondas with a lot of aftermarket parts, right now there's a dc2 96 type r going for 490,000 yen fob with 120 k km, the cheapest dc2 i've ever seen for sale :nice:

What problems did you have with IBC Japan? please let me know, kinda getting paranoid now lol just want my car here safe, my 1st time importing!

http://www.grahamberry2.co.jp i dont like the site too much how the customer service etc?

also just checked that teg, like it alot, is that price total cost to the uk? i may take it..

To my country it will be like 6000$ shipped, don't know yours, but it's very cheap, i really dont like the wheels, but i'm sure it has an aftermarket suspension

i noticed that in your location that you stay in Scotland, i stay up in Aberdeen and at the moment i am in te process of having an EK9 imported for me by private imports

they are based in Edinburgh and they import very high quality cars! they don't buy cars through the auctions but through private/dealer sales so they have more history of the car and they seem to be able to find some top quality cars!!!

best thing to do if you're interested in a certain car is send them an email and they will get back to you with what cars they have available to the spec you want :nice:

y0 Im in Aberdeen too, going to be importing my own EK9 over soon. As for Private Imports.. LMAO. Dude they are pretty expensive man! Quoted my buddy like 10g for a dc2 ¬_¬

Lol yeah i know John F etc nice guys at private imports but i saved myself a fair bit of cash buying it myself, seems the problem isnt with ibc japan but things getting stolen from peoples cars on the ferry so really its their fault not ibc japan

they aren't THAT much more expensive than othr importers for an EK9!!!

they've just found me the perfect ek9, 37k miles pre fecelift, 4 2 1 manifold and cat back exhaust system everything else standard CW no accident history and mint condition for £8600

their service has been great so far and they actually do alot more with the cars when they arrive in the uk than some other importers
-full service
-full valet
-undersealed
-cat 2 imobiliser
-year mot
-6 months tax

Right now i can get myself a 2000 rx EK9 for 6500 with 22k miles on the clock Grade 4

or a 99 Silver EK9 with 30k for 5900 grade 4

gi.php

and a 99 Yellow grade 4 for 5200

and 97 EK9's are peanuts under 3k in some cases

Steven i am in no way knocking Jonh F or his company, i just found a way to get my own cheaper, i was going to use John to get mine but he was in Japan so ended up getting it myself no other reason, i do know he does a lot to the cars too before the customer gets them etc, ive seen a few he has sold and cannot fault any of them, really nice clean cars unlike many others ive seen for sale

Regarding them not buying at auction etc, well mine wasnt actually an auction either but was from an auction company, i had it sourced via one of their employees, no accident damage etc either, i know plenty other places in Japan to have them sourced from too, buying from auction isnt risky if you have trust in the person doing the work for you and get all checks done before you bid/buy then you should be fine

There is however quite a bit of work getting them into the uk, then you have clearence fees, tax/vat, sometimes an sva test, dock fees, needing to hire a model report, other little bits and pieces you need to get for the car, registration fees etc, then mot and tax...

Post some pics up when you get your EK9 m8 would be nice to see it, i will post pics of my 98 when it arrives too, its by no means MINT but it is grade 3.5 with 62k miles no damage, service history, the problems with it is 2 minor dings on the door and a scratch on the rear which im happy to have sorted myself, one seat has a mark on it, the cup holder is missing (i have one here) it also has ultra leads, mugen SS manifold and a full Driftspec system, considering what i paid for the car it is a bargain :) plus for my 1st import i didnt want to spend mega money untill i see how i get on with importing myself

Some pics of mine nice and manky!

lol i was lookin at all them ones today aswell! The price importers are selling EK9's for IMO is a joke seriously. If you spend the time and effort you can save big bucks.

Im not saying John F aint a good guy, met him at JAE last year etc but im just sayin his prices can be high.

i'd just rather not go through the hastle myself, once you go through the costs of importing, taxes, preparation for the sva test (all ek9's require as they are manufactured after the begining of 1997) cost of model report, cost of the asva test itself, mot, tax etc etc

the car i mentioned above they were negotiating the sale in japan on friday so i should know for sure if it's mine start of this week and then i'll get some pics up!

Quote;and 97 EK9's are peanuts under 3k in some cases -If they are that much why are they over 7500k when they arrive in the uk??

due to the fact that if you dont know how much they sell for then you dont know.. thus an importer can charge how ever much he wants for it! Hence why half the prices of these car's are a bloody joke! im afraid to say lol.

3k the car may be but add another 27.5% for import tax and duty, the 3k car then becomes over 4k, then hire a model report £500, prepare it for sva, but the parts needed, do the speedo conversion etc etc etc then register etc the 3k car is now over 5.5k and you aint sold it yet...

9k IMO is too much for an EK9 unless its done 0 miles lol

Can i just say if it cost £3k in Japan that would be about £5k otr and it would be a bit tatty. I pay more than that for mine and don't really make a big fortune selling them and the risk of getting a tatty car is on me.
For most people it is safer to pay £1500 more with no risk, actually view the car before purchasing, test drive it, no unexpected costs, no paper work, no 8 - 10 nervous week wait and no hassle.
Thanks Dunx
