Dear members,
I own an ej9 civic with no srs equipped and I have always wanted to fit a non srs momo ek9 steering wheel. The sad think is that the dc2 equivalent wheel won't fit eks as we know and the ek9 ones are really rare to find not to mention in a good condition. So after having read numerous of articles mentioning that ep/ap/fk steering wheels can fit I bought one from an ep2 civic in literally as new condition and reasonably priced.
The adventure begins from here though. It fits ok but it is impossible to make the horn work as in non srs steering wheels the horn works with a shoe horn attached to the rear metal base of the steering

The rear pattern of an ep wheel is like this

So I realised that I also needed the srs tape from an EK to make it work

Sadly when trying to swap the tape i realised that it won't fit the inner side of my non srs steering column while it fits ok the side of the ep2 steering.
Only then I understood that there must two different parts for non and srs ek civics
This is the non srs version

and this is the srs version

I am in the point of trying to find the black part so as to make the srs tape fit and work the horn in the ep2 steering.
Unfortunately i can't be 100% sure it will work and i will not need the whole srs steering column for example.
Did anyone of you have a similar experience? That is, tried to fit in a non srs ek civic a steering wheel from ep3 or similar?
Thanks in advance

My god that's a confusing read, steering columns are easy changed just get one to suit your wheel easiest option imo

wont it be easier to wire in a button for the horn instead of trying to find parts hoping for it to work

I have been told to wire the horn using extra button but i find it ridiculous and unsafe to be honest.
Maybe a complete steering column i guess. I can source it for 60e.
So no experience in this i guess, right?

You can just do it the changing column way if your that fussed about having horn working on steering wheel, in and out in a hour, there's 2 security screws you'll need to cut a line in with a grinder so you can turn them with a flat head just to warn you

Just wiring it to an external button is easier though, I have one here pre wired not dangerous imo
