Hey guys..

I was just wandering, on Wednesday, long story cut short, my car (stock EJ9) was spun out on the motorway by a truck and completely destroyed..

If I get myself a new EJ9 what kind of insurance price increases would I be expecting?

Its worthy to add that the incident was completely the truck drivers fault (as admitted) and I was found 100% innocent..

:thanks:

Until the claim is settled you will loose all your no claims bonus and have an accident on your record. Just hope it's sorted before renewal. After claim has gone through it should be the same as before with full NCB.

After a crash that's not your fault your insurance will go up next year when it's recorded, though won't effect the current year of insurance I think.

As for prices, that's a question for your insurance company! Not us!

This. Years back a 4x4 sat on my bonnet, it didn't affect that years premium but did affect the next even though they promised it wouldn't. They said I had still made a claim. I think it depends on the company because the next one I tried weren't fussed I had made a non fault claim.

yh exactly the same with my brother, when his car was hit when was parked outside my house, they said that he had claimed so it would rise, he just went ok then il be leaving after my years up and went elsewhere and other company wasnt botherd

damn, hopefully it wont be that expensive :\ im guessing it will probably be like £100 more with the faultless accident on there.. is that a bad guess?

My EK3 was written off after an accident that was not my fault, the other driver's insurance company paid for it... My NCB stayed intact and I don't think it affected my premium at all. You can do a simple test - go on one of the many comparison websites, get a random quote with your details, and then add the accident an see how/if it affects the premiums.

Thanks for the comments guys! Im just hoping for the best, quick question.. my amp in the boot of my car was damaged (RCA inputs broken) and im also assuming it does not work due to rain etc which is now dry.. Can i claim my amplifier separately with receipts or do i include it so the assessors can work out the price of the car including the stereo system + amplifier etc etc.. also My mums phone was damaged during the accident as well.. can i claim these?

Did you disclose the amp etc to your insurance company? If you did then yes, I'm sure you can get money back for it. If not I would keep quiet about it! As for the phone, I would definitely try to get the money back for that!

Yes ofcourse, I have a limit of £500 on electronics etc and my system was around £300 - £400, sub,amp + 4 speakers.. Would it matter anyway seeing as im claiming all the money etc straight from the lorry driver's insurance? (admitted to being completely at fault)

My insurance went up when someone rear ended me, they wanted 330 pm on a dc5, literally fell down ha. Change insurance company's next year and it won't be as much as with your current insurer. Also never renew it always do it as a new quote it's always cheaper.

Yeah, I was thinking of cancelling my current insurance because I dont know how long until i can find a good, clean EJ9 again in my price range (depends on how much insurance pays me) but then again if i dont, i can continue paying the same money and wont have to pay more etc for the non-fault claim.. (i did get a quote from the same company with the claim, barely made a difference) but after i spoke to them, they assured me that if i make my next payment (23rd) instead of cancelling it, i can still cancel it halfway through the month and get half my money back if i really want to, thats if i dont find a car and change the car on the policy...

hopefully everything is working out and I will be sorting out a courtesy car from the third party's insurance too to get me around until i get myself an ej9.. im just hoping i wont get offered like 2 quid for as "market value" for my black ej9..

Is your NCB still intact, claim settled?

If so, it should not effect what you pay, if it does then you are with the wrong insurers.

No, only a small minority of insurers load for non-fault claims.

Yes this is also true, just tried a few quotes from random insurers and compare websites, my current one did not go up at all too..

Thanks for your reply, the claim is not settled yet, as im having my solicitor sort it out for me, I was informed that there is currently no problems and my claim will be settled, just waiting for them to value my car and let me know what they are offering me.
