Got an issue with the brakes currently.

Recently my brake pedal has been losing some pressure, not completely but the pedal goes very far down before the brakes actually apply, but after a few pumps pressure restores to normal for a few minutes before dropping off again.

This of course, would suggest a leak. However, the fluid isn't dropping and from inspecting the lines and all I can't find anywhere where fluid is coming out of.

So what the hell is causing it?

The car has also developed a weird knocking noise at the front when going over bumps & turning on full lock? Got anything to do with it?

Lastly, Ive not noticed it before and don't know if it's normal. But I pressed the brake pedal one night to feel the pressure when the engine was OFF and the keys were NOT in the ignition, so competely switched off - and the brake lights still come on when I press the pedal?

Anyone who can provide an input, please do :D

Brake issue - check all calipers are moving freely first (disc wear pattern is a good indicator of this, but physically check to be sure), but I'd say the MC has had it. Could be air in the system but how would that get in if it really doesn't leak? Also, when did you last change your brake fluid?

Knocking noise I'd check ARB drop links and bushes, those are fairly notorious. If they are fine check all other bushes as well.

Yeah I believe the brake light is connected to constant 12v for safety reasons so that in the event of an accident or if your engine dies or whatever they still work.

Brake light coming on is normal & sounds like a servo problem check for any vacuum leaks to servo

Just remembered to look at this!

Thanks for the replies. Will check some of this stuff out. Bloody CV joint snapped on me now too!
