Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

winter is time for modifying!! What sort of boost do you run with your current turbo? Have you considered running the likes of a GT3076R and making the same power with less boost pressure which would also mean less heat?

My original post Nurburgring plan was to run a gt3071r on a tubular manifold and 3" exhaust.
This is likely to set me back around 2.5-3k after all is said and done though and I don't feel I'm using the current setup to its full capability either.
I think im just getting tired of plowing money into this car now but from a heat perspective I was wanting to play with water/meth injection.
This should be cheaper and I don't need more power(yet) so a new turbo/mani set up is more costs than it's worth ATM.

The ring trip brought up a lot of issues with the car that I've been trying to work through recently, the brakes, the chassis, steering weight etc

So bleed the brakes up quick tonight.
I'm 50/50 as to weather I've actually managed to seal the system finally.
Going to drive it to work all next week and see what happens with the leaks then.
If it still leaks I'll be going braided lines and hopefully that will be the end of it.

Ek9 got daily duties this week, so I could trace a coolant leak and obvs keep an eye on the brake Union leak.
Managed to find the coolant leak and the brakes stayed solid all week. So that's good news.
Also bought this

OMP WRC in 350mm. I'm real picky with steering wheels(hence never buying one) but this is probably the only wheel I like under £150. Mounted on a HKB boss.
Had to get creative gypsy style and fab up some mousetrap style wiring for the horn but it works so....
Feels much better in the hand than the stock wheel and also makes the inside look abit more racecar!
Needs a good paint on the inside aswell but that will come later.

So plenty of you guys buying on Black Friday deals? I told myself I wasn't going to do that and be strong.
Addiction kicked in yo and ended up buying a new tubular manifold.

Go autoworks new RR manifold. A/C compatible so I can run this with my full width rad.

Never a dull moment on this thread lol wheel looks wicked mate and that manifold looks serious! Will it see more power I take it?

Yeah it's a proper problem child! I won't give up though.
Yeah I should see more power for the same boost level and alittle earlier spool with some luck.
Plan is to go 3" exhaust aswell but depends on cash flow really. Probably end up maxing the turbo out around 400hp just because....
I'm hoping having the wheel closer to me and of a more "sticky" material will help me out on track. I struggle to steer it ATM lol

With the new manifold you will have to modify your downpipe to suit, unless this manifold is modelled of the cast one.
Should pick up some response and power though:nice:

Yep. 3" downpipe and hopefully exhaust system to come. I would have bought the go autoworks downpipe but I feel they are expensive for what they are. A custom downpipe is most likely.

Do you have gloves as well? Combined they stick so well!

Yes I have a pair of OMP firsts iirc.
Still need to get the alignment sorted but I won't be on track until Jan minimum as work won't let us have time off in December.

Nice choice on the wheel, how much further back is it with the hkb boss over the oem wheel?
I want something similar but could do with a quick release boss in between to make getting out of the car easier,

I can't say exactly how much closer it is with the HKB boss but I wouldn't want a quick release stacked ontop of it aswell.
I can just reach the indicator stalk with my hand on the wheel of that's any help.

So just a word update Unfortunately.
No parts been bought for a while so I'm quite proud of that achievement!

Did book in with @Beetlejuice for a weld in cage and likely 3" exhaust system though so can't claim to be in recovery yet lol
Looking for a full set of lexan Windows to go in aswell and then work towards a tune after ARC have done their thing with the car.
So that's my budget chewed up until March...

Going all out soon then with the cage and windows,
When's the cage happening?

Feb 20th the car goes in. I'm half way through a house move plus arc are booked up till around then.
Thought I'd take advantage of his fab skills and get the exhaust done aswell assuming his price is competitive(it will be).
Debating removing the heater matrix aswell, only two issues.
1. How do I de-mist the windscreen?
2. I like to use the blowers on full on track to act as a very small extra radiator.wondering if I can do a work around using say a PC fan in a shroud around the stock matrix, then feed a pipe up to windscreen.
Means I can remove the bulky boxes and stock fan.

You can get race heaters that still run off the water pipes like stock and just have a switch for them, just have to use ducting to feed it to the vents you want, I'm thinking the same idea for my dc2 as well

Cost about £20 :)
Hole in the floor, cheap low power fan. Works a treat, but you won't get the engine cooling

I've just fitted a boat bilge blower, about £20 from eBay, it blows easily as hard as the oem fan.
Edit.. Mines just like Paul's without the hole in the floor
if you want to radiate more heat you can use a oil cooler or a motor cross bike radiator plumed in the heater lines mounted down by the rear engine mount

Tbf with a full width rad I'd expect temps to be fine without the matrix in place.
I'll look into the bilge blower when the time comes.

So not much to say really.
Still Inbetween houses and garage is on lock down so I can't do any work/modifying which is killing me!
My bank account has never looked so healthy mind so that's decent. Means I can have a savage spend up later on!
Waiting on manifold from go-autoworks still and putting my spare time into learning about ecus and map writing. Very secretive trade though so hard to find decent info.
Every now and then I think I should have just gone kswap and built like a 2.7L k series with the money I've spent rebuilding and boosting these engines.
Then I jump in the car and this is my feels

firmly in the boosted camp and the force is strong!

Oh I lied, I did buy something....

Mightycarmods Tshirts! Win!
