Jesse888's ek9 build thread

Wicked stuff mate, i think you should leave the splitter bare wood or maybe go for an nice wood stain :p

Great idea tbh bud, and loving the parts on this Feels, Boyz, just nice to see something different to spoon or mugen lol. Keep us updated.

I'll be the first to admit im jealous of the B18C with 4.9FD combo with Launch control. :win: Grrrr want that so bad lol

I was debating the woodstain with myself, with a "because racecar" sticker.
I've painted one side in a black 10year garrentee thing to help it with the weather.
Come Tuesday or Wednesday I'll have a how to with it all finished.

Yeah the launch control is great. Shame the boyz exhaust is going but is being replaced with something better, which should be my next update.

Hey mate looking good
where did you attach the front of the splitter to
And the back?

Will all be in my how to mate, its got 8 mounts onto the body of the car. Weighs about 8-9kg.

Breath of fresh air with all the pish on the forum of late, keep it up matey!

I'll do my best lee. Some great updates coming up in the next few months leading to the track season.

give me my car baacckkkk :-( lol

looking good mate, glad you got rid of the tilt brackets and extended short shift. They were on my list to take back off if i kept it, tegiwa stuff is awful !!

Sorry jake you can't have it lol yeah I was debating the shifter for a while bit took it off in the end. Just couldn't get on with it.

Nice one man.. Looks well good! Ill need to proper wash my carpets soon!

Looks like a clean one! Really like what you've done with the custom splitter, look forward to seing the 'how to' on making one

Yeah a lot more fun in the bends. My 888 was far from stock befor I broke it and will probably be the fastest car I'll ever own for inline pace, but this vtec stuff amuses me so I shall be staying and tinkering as you do.
Can I ask what number 888 you driven? I may know the owner or it could be my old one back in stock form

Agree it was quick when you wanted it to be on the road, just felt a bit week in the corners by comparison. Nice interior and decent spec with cruise etc. im saying 73 but it was several years ago now it was traded in against an A5 and we dont usualy deal in that age or specialist car so we eventualy traded it hence why i used it for a few days. Was a local lad who had it.

What material is your splitter made of if you dont mind the asking?

looks quality, loving the splitter and cant wait to see when its finished!

splitters made from 9mm external use plywood. depending on how it holds up i may get 12mm but 9mm seems to work for now

Splitter looks cool. U need to block up the hole between the splitter and the front lip with an aid dam. The splitter is pointless otherwise, unless its just there for looks.

Passed the body weight test Wich is perfect ;-)

Yeah I'm still working out the airdam ATM. It will have one for sure
Glad everyone like it. I thought it would be abit marmite.

Cool. Ye did just see u we're gunna add one, my bad.

Personally love it, I'm all In for aero and chassis mods over massive power. :)

Wouldn't this make the car front heavy and more prone to under steer? You'll have to make a rear diffuser and under tray to balance it out plus it would look so cool ;-)

Should allow more front end grip at higher speed. I'll find the web page i researched befor i started. What I'm trying to do is balance out the understeer it has from stock by increasing front end grip.i would like a rear diffuser plus flat floor aswell but that's when the weight and costs come into it.

Sorry I was meant to say oversteer. More grip at the front but less on the rear

I'm actually quite happy with an oversteery set-up, obviously not too much on a fwd. but I'd like the back to turn quickly and not so the cars dragging its arse round the corners.

Updated page 1 with some extra bits I've been doing this week.
No splitter news yet but I have painted it black both sides.
