Jesse888's ek9 build thread

Got bored.
Fitted the rc6! Put the EBC anti squeal shims on them from my yellowstuffs aswell, maybe that will stop them squealing when cold,
These are my track only pads so will let people know what I think of them after Monday.

Will link the video aswell later, only a 1lap thing.
Lots of understeer on this track day, going back to the drawing board on the alignment, going for some toe out to get the back round alittle better.
Still one of the faster cars out there which is always the aim I suppose

I've noticed this aswell. Most track days I'm on the scooby guys won't yeild. I have to actually overtake them, usually under the brakes.

Yep or nudge em round the corner, i had one guy who couldn't brake as late as me at comb and he was stamping on em mid corner! Haha

Forgot to mention that I completely destroyed my back box, carbon fibre skin came free and the gases basically destroyed the carbon lol
This happened early morning and Bedford are very strict on noise. So we had to come up with a solution.(a bodge basically)

Yes that is cable ties and half a tube of sealant holding my backbox together lol
Got home with the skin basically falling off.
So had to get handy again! Ordered a sheet of stainless steel and got my DIY cap on.
Ended up looking like this

Not too bad. It's a lot heavier than it was but should stand up to track use.

i really admire how creative you are, fair play man looking good. what was benford like? Are you going to trax's?

I'm not at trax. Bedford is a good track, lots of corners and run off so you can really get confident in the car. They are much better on the noise than I thought, gave me two warnings, not straight off like some say
I'm creative because I have to be ATM. If I had the spare cash I would have bought the feels system for sale on here, but with the ring trip next month and saving for Hgv licence I've not got much spare income lol
Will let you know the next track day I'm on when I know,

Nice thread, definately looks at home on the track. I like the fosters catch can, did it make any difference with the oil puff?

Haha no not ready yet, got afew track days in her still!

The yellow stuff are okay on track, they stopped me well enough but they smoke when I come off track lol also peddle feel changes a fair bit which I don't really like.

There is a small amount of oil in the can. Didn't seem to puff as much, I usually notice it out the rear window but didn't this time.
Matt said it still smoked alittle and caught it on camera.

Yeah man i totally understand, hgv is the best thing i have ever done tbh, expensive but rewarding. What are you doing your class 2? Or are you gonna do both. Come 2014 there is going to be a hgv shortage, thats my time to apply for the 75k per year car transporter job for fords. When u get your license ring up the co-op they take new drivers on and pay very well. Good luck man

I'll do both one after the other if I can. Then crack on trying to find a job

Ah ok mine is doing the same thing with the smoke. I think my PCV box might be blocked as I've never cleaned it. Might flush it out, I've got a catch can aswell to put on

Pcv valve is a service item, £30ish for pcv, hardpipe and clips. I recently changed mine as it look old and tatty.

You should defenatly get the puff sorted as your going to the ring. Does look quite bad from the picture. How many track days has the engine done?.

Will be fine. All b18's puff out smoke on track. Its on the overrun then back into throttle it puffs slightly, was a lot worse than that before I got the catch can sorted.
I've done 3 trackdays and 20mins at japfest. Prior to that I have no idea how many track days the engine had done.
Doesn't use a lot it doesn't even read on the dipstick as any missing after a full day.
