Andrew from "Streetracer" has started a new Civic Cup series at our local Track and it kicks off this March!
As soon as I heard about it I knew that I had to get involved, after enjoying modifying my old DC2 and EK9 and doing a few trackdays this is something that I have always wanted to be a part of

So I set about looking for a good base for a racecar. The rules state that for now, all cars must me ek4 vti with standard engine and diff. This car came up from a local guy on a forum and it ticked all the boxes for me and was a great price

Here are the pics from the old owners house:

The car drove very well with 95k on the clocks. It was standard apart from lowering springs, few strut bars and just a back box which the previous owner added. The car is also on the original clutch as far as I can tell

Plans are to fully strip the car, full roll cage, tighten up the suspension with a few new bushes and arms etc. Coilovers, 2 fixed seats, harnesses, extinguisher and all of the other safety equipment required to race

I have started to strip the car

I'm waiting on Timing belt kit, waterpump, MTF, rocker gaskets from Simauto :nice: so I spent a bit of today stripping everything out of the way to remove the belt

Fitted a new stat as I noticed the temp was dropping down when cruising. Also drained all the coolant from the block ready for the waterpump

Ricky "eternalblue2000" supplied me with a few nice parts, magnetic sump and box plugs, rear wiper delete and some gear to help remove all of the sound deadening (have to tackle this soon)

I have a buddyclub sunroof delete to fit and hoping to get a few other parts that I need from Shaun

awesome work, thats a nice wee ek4 to work from. This all happening up at kirkstown? would be cool to go up and see you all giving it the beans.

Love it man, And if I was in the country enough I would love to get into something like this. Keep it up :nice:

did you pick this up from a guy in lichfield by any chance? sure i seen that around before looks familiar

looks like a great base, i have the same sunroof delete ;) good luck

Dean

Good start base, didnt realise you could get buddyclub roof deletes that should save some weight :)

is that all the work you done?....lazy git :D

only messing, with your standard i know it will be a winner when done :drive:

bang tidy, this is inevitably what i'll do with mine, you got any sponsorship lined up?

good to see the car mate, I'll have to get down to see it some time.

Derek

Cheers for all of the comments!

Yes "elchunk" its starting at kirkistown

Sometimes it seems like you work all day on a car and it doesnt look like you have done that much but projects like this can be very time consuming! Its all good fun, some of the time lol

Its hard to get enough time atm to work on the car with work etc but I got a good bit more done today. I did the nightmare of a job to remove all of the sound deadening from the floor and painted the whole interior satin black.

I will have to upload a few pics

Yes "bencrx" the sunroof delete does remove a good amount of weight but it is also necessary to fit a full cage

Sooo glad you have another EK, Always been a fan of your builds.

What happened to the spoon spoiler?

Looks good mate! Do you think you will be out on Sunday?

Cheers Ted but there is no chance I will have the car ready this month but I will be down at Kirkistown to see you's
Still need to buy seats, wheel and boss etc, and pay for insurance to get the car to and from the track.

Still plenty of jobs to do on the car aswell. Waiting on parts to do the timing belt and waterpump etc. Decided that I'm going to fit a new clutch while its stripped down this far as Im nearly sure its still on the original clutch form new and it will not last on the track

I also have rear LCA's, rear trailing arm bushes, drop links etc to fit and I'm going to make sure all the calipers are free while replacing pads / changing fluid

Sooo glad you have another EK, Always been a fan of your builds.

Thanks a lot mate, glad to own another EK again (this is my 4th) I will add nice parts as I go along but on a budget atm after buying my 1st house

The spoon spoiler was removed by the owner before I bought the car

Got a bit more done on the car. Buffed back any small signs of rust around the front end while its stripped and the rear arches, treated and painted everything to keep the shell solid

The interior is now painted and basically ready for the cage.
