I'll be changing my damaged 5zigen header for a J's Racing header. I've heard good reports on J's header on a S2000 which was reported definitely better than Toda at top end. I was considering on getting a replacement but considering the prices;
Toda: 900+
SPOON: 900+
5zigen: 550+
J's racing 650+

I've decided with J's Racing. So will do a small write up on this as not many people have this header. :D

Yeh head the J's mani is excellent for the price. I will be getting one at some stage:D They tested 20 different types of manifold before they decided that was the one!

id be very interested to see how she performs myself. good luck with it!!!

when you getting it ????

I'll be shipping it in with the next shipment from japan including my SPOON Twin Block and Toda Spec A + 1.8 Stroker kit.... man... my wallet is getting lighter...:(

Anto_ek9: yeh, I heard it's very good compared to TODA and it should go very well with my J's Racing CF Intake.

Blinx: Whats vibrant long tube?

:D here it is... one is wrapped and unwrapped. Wrapped is extra $100...

I have many doubts concerning the header wrapping........
The claim that it keeps heat within the wrap and thus keeping the engine temp down to increase performance might not be as beneficial as it seems to be........How can you tell that this doesn't decrease the performance of the manifold and that this doesn't cause an overheating and hence damaging it. Is there any research I'm not aware of?? :blinx:

wrapping the manifold WILL give better engine performance as less heat is present on engine bay... however i did read on prev post by 'Blinx' that headers life is shortned a bit when wrapping!

nice manifold btw... :nice:

When I said that it might not be as beneficial as it seems to be, i meant for the header.......For sure the engine will perform better with less heat
:nice:

ive also heard that the heatwrap damages the manifold in the long run... cant remember why though, willlook for old posts....

Yes, I've heard that the headers will thin out over time because of the heat. I don't think I'll be getting the wrapped one although its nicely done. I think it looks better raw... hehehe

keep us posted remember!

I am considering 5zigen and J's racing atm.

since you will have had both, please let us know a direct comparison.

*I started owning a EK9 thinking I won't do anything but after seeing gains I am so tempted*

i want a j's header...it looks like it has a 3" collecter in the pic would i be rite??????

is it? i thought it is 2.5" as it needs to be able to fit OEM cat?

anyway I been looking at Manifolds and confused about the

4-2-1
and 41 setup...

it seems the 98 Spec DC2 has 4-1 setup, and it has done very well on the (205bhp) B16B in the CRX on dyno

waytofastforu: I don't know if it is 2.5 or 3.0 but most probally 2.5 as 3 is too big.

Tmus: I will keep you posted once I received the part and put pics up.

4-1 is best for track cars that stay in the high rpms as this will promote max power from your headers at top end.

4-2-1 is for the street where bottom and mid range matters, however, TODA 4-2-1 headers claim with theirs they only loose 1.5% power top end and gain 15% torque low and mid range.

I heard the J's Racing headers are just as comparable and J's Racing's header for the S2000 kills the Toda headers throughout the power band especially top end. I can't find too much info or comparisons on the J's B-series headers. :(

very interesting, just makes you wonder tho how much MORE the 4-1 will gain in the top end compare to 4-2-1 and vice versa.

I thought that the important thing is Equal length, and J's racing one is apparently stated it is.

also interesting is Mugen/spoon has 4-1 where as 5zigen and J's and seeker as I just found out have 4-2-1.

I guess when it comes to it, between those brands will have to see which one is cheaper.

With toda's 4-1 and 4-2-1 theres only 1.5% difference top end power but 15% gain in torque with 4-2-1.

Your better off using the JDM type R 4-1 header from DC2R if your chasing 4-1 type as this is one of the best headers out there and not worth upgrading it unless your going to 4-2-1 or want to save a bit of weight.

5zigen is the best value as it's half the price of TODA. J's racing prices fits in between. Mugen I think is expensive as with all it's products but I heard this one isn't that good though. Hytech headers made more power than TODA everywhere and is another 30% more expensive than toda lol

I have a J's Racing 4-1 and I measured the collector OD at 67mm.

Will be swapping it with a Hytech pretty soon...
