Justin's ek9 build up / rebuild

sooo... it was time to put it all back together

pistons in....

stretching the rod bolts with the rod bolt stretch gauge i made up :nice:

coming together nicely...

always prefer to run the sump gasket with sealer as its usually always gauranteed to leak dry imo.

ready for the head...

Booom! engine built

just to clean up the gearbox and bang it on.... then it will be time to fire the engine back in :nice:

Well after a good few nights of working on the car it's finished :D
Fired it up the other night, no leaks etc CHUFFED! Dumped out the oil after about 20 mins, put in new oil and a filter all ready for the run in this weekend.

Got a quick few pics with the phone

i noticed that the sills and behind the rear bumper hadn't been undersealed... so that was the next job :nice:

also managed to get the engine run in this week....the engine's currently done 900 miles no problems atall, its running spot on.
It's quality when uv done that last few miles of the run-in then oil change then go out and give it death :drive:

also managed to dig out an old photo of the engine bay standard...

old bay

new bay

there's a fair difference now :D

Looking well, engine bay looks much tidier now :)

Any oil usage since the rebuild?
