Hey guys.

New guy here ,i got a ej9 civic and bought it because i love Hondas and to learn more about how to work on cars myself.
My target with this car is to make a complete exterior conversion to the Type R ek9 look and some small changes in the interior .
In my list there is a k series swap . Since i like to do my homework before moving into a purchase something, i was browsing through ebay mostly about the k20 type r engine and on my screen showed a whole world with many diferent versions of it.
Since i have no idea myself about specific letters and there are thousands of debates on the internet without anything specific ,i would like your help on which specific engine i should look for.

So which K series is the one i should look for ?
I don't need any other information other than it since the forum covers almost everything i look for .
Gonna make soon a thread about my build and keep you guys updated.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
I think most popular engine for K swap is K20A2 which was mounted into the Honda civic type r (EP3) 2001-2006.
It has good performance and price ratio.

A cheaper engine is the k24a3 and will easily give you over 200hp on stock engine with just a a aftermarket header the rest completely stock.
That a good tune with k-pro and you have around 215-225hp and A LOT (250~) torque.

Sure you won't be able to rev up to 9000rpm but you will outrun a stock k20a2 :)

Iv not done a k swap but if I had the money, I would look for a k20a from jap civic or jap dc5 ,but that's if I had the funds. Can't beat jap IMHO. It's the high rpm that I like .

I'm looking for high rpm . In my books nothing can beat something that can rev so high till the almost 9k.

Where could I find the jap spec one? Would it be legal in Europe?( I live in Germany)

Just buy a k20a2 and a hondata k100 for the same price as k20a and get it mapped. People put an rbc inlet manifold on anyway and get 240bhp

I have full running gear here from a jap dc5, jdm k20a engine, LSD box etc
Are you located in Germany? If yes , any idea for what i should be careful for so that my car can pass TUV.
Where can i find the jdm k20a so that i can buy it?
It found you lol k20a =baller status!
I'm in a budget of 15k . Currently my plans is to restore my dad's 71' Mercedes 500 SL and the k20 civic build is going to be a bit slower . I have already started fixing and putting small things and I'm going to post the progress around here.

Stefan
