I've always dreamt of building a K20 powered EK hatch after watching some videos on YouTube. The search for a clean and good EK hatch took me a couple of months. A proper EK hatch is rare here in Thailand, much less an original EK9. Most of the EK hatches here are converted from EK coupes. Basically take a coupe and cut off its boot and put on the hatch. Very unsafe in my context.
An example of the crazy things they do here.
So I finally found this. Not an original EK9, but at least it started life as a proper EK3 hatch, converted to Type R specs.
Previous owner seem to be a fanboy of Spoon Sports. The car came with original Spoon mirrors, rear wing, kevlar seats, steering wheel, gauge cluster, sw388 and Spoon brakes.
Not really my taste, I was actually looking for 1 as stock looking as possible. But I figured that if the previous owner was willing to spend on original parts, rather than replica that are readily available in Thailand, he must have really loved the car, and must have taken good care of it.
I'll be swapping the aftermarket parts to stock EK9 parts, and K20 running gears from a JDM DC5R. Will be using parts from Hybrid Racing for the K swap, as they have a distributor here who has done numerous K swaps on EGs. First thing that was worked on was the brakes. I had them swapped for a Project Mu brake kit, as the Spoon rotors were warped, and the Project Mu kit was offered to me at a good price.
