My lights have this horrible like stock film stuff on them and its pealing any one no a good way to take this off? I know its standard stuff and should really buy new lights but I thought I'd ask

Cheers!!

oem lights shouldnt have any sort of film on them? someone must have put a tint layer on them or something? i would try and get the film warm and tacky and have it covered in water and try to peel it back. going to be a pita of a job though.

Do you have a pic? Sounds like it might be easier to pick up second hand ones!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have the exact same problem. I had some sort of film stuff pealing of my headlights and they allow moisture in the inside of the lights.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Had this problem with my first civic, think this issue may be exclusive to the pre-facelift headlights (wasn't an EK9 headlight so again could have nothing to do with EK9 ones).

Its definately a wierd one, its almost like a thin film / protector that eventually peels off with old age however I cant see how this would cause moisture / condensation issues.

With mine I used G3 - which is a cutting compound then i polished them a few times, the results werent 100% effective but it looked almost back to normal.

It was certainly cheaper than buying new/replacement headlights which I think will be the only sure fix.

Sorry, worded it wrong. It seemed to happen at the same time as moisture getting into my lights.

So basically the only way I'll probably get rid of it is with a machine polish? Might be that I go down the new headlight route then.

Any advice on sorting the moisture in my lights?

Cheers :)

Ahhh I just re-read it and makes sense ha, yeah a good machine polish would make them a lot better.

Stick them in the oven separate the lense from the headlight casing then re-seal them with sealant. While you have got them seperated you could paint the inside to match EK9 headlights if you wished.

If you can afford it you might be better off with a new set but you could try sorting them out first

Shame I haven't got a machine polisher at this time.

Yeah, not sure how my parents will be seeing a headlight in the oven but i'll probably give it a try at some point, what sort of sealant? or do I just re-seal with the sealant that's still there?

That would be a good thing to do with painting the inside.

Cheers :)

Need a big over for a cvic headlight.

A wet sand with 2000 grit paper & machine polish usually makes them almost like new again.

What this man said! Did it in a couple of minutes on a peeling spot on my headlight. Just used 2000 grit sandpaper and then hand polished. good as new!!!
