The full name for the resonator is a helmholtz resonator, and it serves two functions. Firstly, by tuning the length of the inlet the resonator is used to increase torque within certain rpm. Secondly, it attenuates noise levels. By all means remove it if you dont mind having a flat spot mid rpm.
this was on a dc-2 forum, im just so confused now as i dont want to lose power or get flat spots, if i dont need to change induction at all i may as well get the header im after lol
