how easy is it to modify the standard ek9 airbox and what is involved
does it increase vtec crossover much?
cheers again sorry for questions all the time

The full name for the resonator is a helmholtz resonator, and it serves two functions. Firstly, by tuning the length of the inlet the resonator is used to increase torque within certain rpm. Secondly, it attenuates noise levels. By all means remove it if you dont mind having a flat spot mid rpm.

this was on a dc-2 forum, im just so confused now as i dont want to lose power or get flat spots, if i dont need to change induction at all i may as well get the header im after lol

Can you tell us exactly what you want ? you want to keep your current oem intake box but make it better or you want to buy a new intake?

just want to know what the best route and view on intake is and what peoples experiences are?
just dont want to rush in and find i lose power in the wrong places if you knw what i mean

sorry to be a pain guys i think ill prob end up with drop in filter and get the spoon direct air intake ot better yet get my friendly exhaust fabricator to make one in stainless for me that will go straight to throttle body, what you guys think oh one last thing anyone know the part number for pipercross panel filter for ek9 type r
cheers again guys

any reason you want to keep the stock air box? why not just get a aem cold air intake?

tbh i really want an aem cai but weather here in the uk is so crap i dont want to run risk with my luck or doing any damage to my very expensive engine lol
so im gonna play with the standard box me thinks, for now anyway but its a difficuilt choice as my girlfriend has an accord type r with a gruppe m and vtec crossover sounds vicious!!!

aem makes a water bypass valve for people in your exact situation, it prevents water from entering your engine :nice:
