My 1968 Honda S800 Re-build

That is amazingly rust-free! It looks like it's been well rust-proofed before, you usually have to remove any of the tar underseal before blasting as the media doesn't work well on the springy tar.

bloody hell that car is clean underneath, there's more dust than dirt! lol. Awesome little project too, only ever seen a few of these online.

Cant wait to see how this turns out, good luck mate :nice:

In between jobs i managed to get the clutch and brake master cylinders off as they were seized. Looks like someone had fitted new ones many years ago and never put brake fluid in.

To get the old pistons out i had to screw the master cylinder outlet onto a ek9 clutch pipe, press the ek9 pedal to use fluid pressure to force the corroded pistons out.

Thankfully they all cleaned up well and no parts were needed. Just as well as nothing is available.

Refitted everything then had to unseize clutch slave cylinder but now clutch fully working.

Went to bleed brakes only to discover banjo bolt was missing on rear flexi. As the fronts are new braided lines and the rear was the original 1968 i called "Hel" who custom made me one including banjo bolt, VAT and delivery all for only £17.50!!!

Finally finished fully stripping the body on Thurs morning. Got dropped at the sand blasters for a full ultra fine blasting at a vintage car restoration place near me. Lets hope they know what they are doing!

More pics to follow soon.

Purchased a ash tray surround the other day from ebay

Can't believe I've missed this!

Amazing project Dunx and top marks for rescuing such a Honda legend.

Will be cool seeing you rocking up to a meet in this!

Good luck with everything :nice:

Now start picking out all the dents, undulations and rust.

Bit of rust, not very bad and another dent on the passenger front wing.

The drivers front wing has been changed sometime in its early life. I can tell this was replace ages ago as it was braised not welded on.

A lot of tapping to be done here. The edge of the arch has been rolled in if you look carefully. Look bad in the flesh.

This quarter is all over the place :nono:

This side isn't too bad.

These OEM steel wheels are really heavy!

SEATS

I recently received some new seat covers from a guy in Pertugal. My job today is to get one of the seats retrimmed. The second seat will need welding as the base has all split.

See how broken the seat is  bit strange for it to break like this.

My new seat covers :nice:

Nice progress on this project, I've just bought myself an early 1968 Honda s800 mk1. I've removed everything inside and nearly all the exterior. Up to this date I need to get the engine out and going to take a proper look underneath.
