So, I've owened my EK9 for a few weeks now, slowly been cleaning things up and replacing a few bits to make it as OEM and clean as possible for an 18 year old car.

Some of you may have seen my seat cleaning post, so sorry if this is duplicated but figured I'd get it all in one place.

Seats were a mess when I got the car, looked like they'd been through a sewage pipe, so gave them a good clean, went from ugly to pretty awesome.

After

Next, I managed to source original bolsters from ebay, replaced the drivers side bolster...

Well chuffed with the result, I'm now super anal on allowing people to get in and out of the car.

I'll keep adding things as and when I get to them, loads more stuff to come, will be spending some time on the car this weekend.

So, had a few days off last week and decided to spend a bit of time on the engine bay.

As you can see from the pics, the previous paint job was a bit too wrinkled. The strut brace was also chipped quite badly.

Bring on the paint stripper, had to do it in my bathroom as I live in an apartment, I do not advise this.. haha

Took the car to my folks place to spray everything in the garden. Long story short, I was using two old half cans of VHT wrinkle red which ended up spitting and laying down an uneven layer of paint, wrinkles were inconsistent and too big. Went out and bought another can and tried to recover it the following day. Something wasn't right however, the finish was utter rubbish.

Turned out, the can I'd bought was a regular red enamel, epic fail.

So, back to the drawing board, stripped the paint off the next day and started over.

After receiving two new cans of VHT wrinkle, managed to get the finish 100% and a lot closer to the OEM look.

As you may have noticed, I also managed to get my hands on an OEM manifold heatshield which was a bit banged up. Cleaned it up and hit it with some VHT cast aluminium paint, came out ace.

Now just gotta wait a few more days til I can get the paint off the logos on the head.

That bay looks fresh!

Those earthed leads look chunky too, what are they?!

My torque mounts looked exactly like your rear mount when I pulled my engine out LOL Just dangling around in the bay holding on for dear life

@ColbyCol - They are Nology Hotwire leads. Thinking of returning them back to a stock set to keep it OEM.

@that_civic - The annoying thing is, the previous owner said all mounts were checked before I bought the car. How someone can miss that I don't know.
