My 2000 Sunlight Yellow EK9

I've seen you can buy the key from Tegiwa etc but don't know if it comes with the pulley when you buy one. And yeah, arch liner off job.

Cheers mate, £200 for a pulley! Going to see if it just needs tightening first. Probably be a week or so before I can get working on the car again

Hopefully get it working proper soon as I’ve got a show to go to with some mates

So after removing my crank pulley to fit the new woodruff key and pulley, I noticed my crank key way was damaged.

It’s only used to locate and does not require strength once the bolt is tight. But as an extra measure I used some Loctite 660 on the woodruff key.

This glue is designed for crankshaft key ways specifically on rotating industrial machinery or crankshafts.

So that is now fixed but I will not be driving the car for a short while despite me having many plans for meets etc.

The YouTube link will describe why I need to check the entire car over. Sorry if you cannot understand my accent

No bolts on the alternator bracket wtf! Sounding like a bodge job and just left half arsed. Real shame for such a nice car! Hope it gets sorted. Great accent btw!

For all I know this could have been a garage timing belt job, I’m not going to throw hate at the previous owner even if it was his fault, I’m not particularly happy about it though

I could get all angry about it, but on an old car I’ve forgot to torque my driveshaft on one side after an engine conversion, came out on the motorway lol.

This does seem to be a lot of stuff to forget to tighten up though, add exhaust manifold bolts to the list that were half undone

this car was modified with a full exhaust and supercharger previously and taken back to mostly stock before sale by Brett.

That does make sense then. A real shame as he was a nice guy

If it hadn’t have damaged the crankshaft key way I would have been okay with it. Obviously with the new pulley and key plus replacing the missing bolts I’m at around 250 quid down

I figured I am long overdue an update to this thread, Cannot Believe its been over a year.

A quick breakdown of events:

The alternator died while driving, I sent it off to Universal Rotating electrics and they reconditioned it for me.

Car was fine for a while then I realised I had water under the carpet in the foot well. Removed the whole interior and dashboard, it was coming through the old cracked seamsealer between the A-pillar and the bulkhead. Re sealed everywhere just for piece of mind and its been bone dry ever since.

Then Battery went a while later so replaced that. Other than that to be honest the car has been okay. I should really trust it more but i feel a constant need to bolt check it etc. A bit dubious to drive it long distances due to the initial problems I had not long after purchasing the car. i.e injector seals leaking, missing bolts and the crank pulley wanting to go on Holiday lol

EDIT: to avoid this post being very boring here is a pic after meeting some forum Members last winter + a couple other shots I have taken

As for changes and modifications made to the car.

I have removed the AC, it didn't work and I never find I need AC.

Fitted the new style Spoon SW388, they changed the design a bit so you can run the bigger brakes without use of a spacer

As well as the wheels I thought may as well get genuine Spoon wheel nuts on to match. Although it costs a lot it seems a pittance when you think of what the wheels cost

Next I fitted a Spoon Carbon spoiler, and some spoon carbon wing mirrors.

As you can see from me taking more pictures at this point I really started to fall in love with the car at this point. Its always been a fantasy to have a spoon catalogue EK9 and it feels strange that its coming true

Next on the list was to fit some spoon Twin-block callipers to finish the theme off in the wheel wells

Fiance was also on point with action photos

Brakes do feel improved a great deal. And the install was relatively painless aside from some rounded disc retaining screws.

This is my first aftermarket brake kit and it is nice to have something that just bolts up, rather than looking in parts bins to find an OEM combo that works.

I lacked on the exterior shots since doing the brakes. Shortly after this is when I removed all the AC.

I then focused more on the interior with these nice additions

Spoon Gearknob
Spoon Gen 3 wheel and Boss
OEM Honda Doubledin blanking plate (stereo, Aerial and speakers all removed)

Unfortunately that is where the civic pictures end for now, Progress is a little slow as I have been focusing on renovating my house. House is almost done now though so more time for the car soon

Still to come is a set of meisterR coilovers as I need a slightly stiffer spring to the spoon shock and spring kit, I can then also get rid of the nasty Arch gap a bit

Also I was going to keep it a secret but I cba, Ive ordered a pair of spoon carbon bucket seats which have a lead time of 3-6 months. Im not going to hold my breath with that time as from what I have experienced with spoon carbon parts so far. That is ambitious of them lol

One last update which may be of slight interest to some. Picked up an Ignis sport as a fun Daily hack. Its dented and scratched all over, undesirable colour and all that. But thats what attracted me more as I need something I can not give a toss about

It is a blast to drive and I would encourage anyone to have a go of one if they get a chance around some tight B roads

I have left My IG in a pic also for those who are interested in following, I also always enjoy to see other cool Hondas

Really nice and orginal looking EK9 and applaud your enthusiasm, Y56 is the best colour.

You'll have a blast in the Ignis, they're great craic :nice:

My meisterR Zeta CRD coilovers arrived and I had them fitted up in under 90 minutes. These Hondas are like Lego compared to other cars I’ve worked on

Spent the day after getting them to sit where I want and also eyeballed the camber until it gets an alignment. Before that happens though I have a booking with simon from Archenemy to roll the arches

Do they go much lower? will they go as low to tuck the tyre you think?
