Bit of a story to tell but might be some interest to a few ...
Finally got round to fitting my 1 bar spring to sort my boost dropping off , went out mapping on the road and holding now and duty cycle came down loads on the boost solenoid .
Had to put a fare bit of fuel in top end and the car feel good on the bum dyno !!!
So I arranged a dyno day local to me to see the outcome ,
It made another 5 hp more , thought something wasn't right but increased the boost 0.2 bar and a Tweek on the map - result was 0.8hp more ..
So something on my set up was restricting .
After lots of head scratching , it was something silly that I totally over looked -
Was running 2 inch boost pipes from the turbo to the offside wing , then it won't to 2.75 to throttle body ... Doh . I worked out the flow rate of the turbo and intake pipes and was exceeding them by loads ...
So I re- done my intake system in 2.5 inch up to the 2.75 .
Went for a road test and realised it's made a huge difference even just on cruise , was tickling the throttle and was seeing 16-17afr .
I got over to my mappers house and we set off for the evening re doing the map ...
I couldn't believe what a difference this made .
Loads of fuel added low down and top end with a increase in spool .
I'm now seeing 10 psi at 4350 rpm , we cross ref to my dyno graph and was seeing about 3-4psi .
But the top end now is nuts -gonna get another dyno session sorted soon .
So i learned about boost pipe sizing . !
