Ek9 1997
I guess it's about time I post on here!
I've always been a Honda enthusiast chasing the ek9 dream and finally achieved it late 2015!
Didn't do a whole lot with the car last year except from enjoy it!

Basically engine wise it's the B16b with a dc2 bottom end with B16b pistons oversized by .5mm.

Made 201hp

The spec does go far beyond that, I might post the spec I bought it with later!

Basically the car was amazing!

Its now been off the road for a few months so I decided it's time to throw some money at it!

As the car was running a very high compression, I wanted cams to take advantage of this.

This is what I've bought for the head so far;
-supertech valves, retainers, dual springs and stem seals
-Brain crower stage 3 cams
-blox cam gears
-skunk 2 pro series intake manifold in red
-skunk 2 throttle body 74mm if I can remember!
-a slightly thicker headgasket to help with valve clearance while I work that stuff out!
-j's racing whale cock
Many more bits!

Using the compression calculator I should still be getting about 11.8cr, which ideally isn't quite enough for the cams but for now it'll do!

I also fell into the trap of fancy looking nuts and bolts

Handling;

I haven't needed to do much really due to everything being almost perfect!
I bought some adjustable camber arms for alignment, the cars got a little natural camber as it's lowered :)

Im hoping I'll be able to drive it to japfest and being ever hopeful I booked a track session but that may have been optimistic!

Only real downside of car is, the arches were rolled after Matt sold it and its started to bubble so that's next on the list as soon as it's back on the road! shame really

Here's a few pictures of the head on a bench and one of the car

Thanks for reading, I did ramble! So if you got to the end thanks!

Cool.
Be interested to see what sort of clearance you get on those cams once dialled in.

@jesse888 its going to be close but with the slightly thicker headgasket it's only going to be about .2mm extra! I've seen builds running cams .2mm smaller than mine and they've been using skimmed head and only a two layer head gasket.
I'm fairly confident it should be ok, but I'll be checking and checking again before i start it up for the first time!

Sounds like shes gonna be a screamer once its done!

Very jealous of the spoon clocks too...

Is gonna be good when it's done...can't believe the nugget who bought it off me had arch work done like that they where spotless for over 5 years!!! is in good hands now tho which is great

I got it running and everything last year. I never got it remapped or mot due to other stuff going on.
I got the money together to finish it, then I spotted a ek4 up for sale with a b16b fully forged, stroked, bored and sleeved. Running a standard head and it was running 235hp.
I bought it. Stripped the engine from both my ek9 and the ek4. I have swapped over the cams and valve train from each engine. (Due to the ek4's head being port and polished and machined.

So now the ek9 is going to be running a b16b with a 85mm bore, cp rods and pistons, stage 3 cams, supertech valve train.

I'm also looking at ordering itb's to take full advantage, I've got a friend who is designing a air box to surround these to keep a cold air feed and minimalizing heat soak.

The ek9's gear box is also currently off. The gear box is going away to have a recently purchased cusco mz lsd.

The next thing on the engine is the honda N1 racing crank pulley to delete power steering. The orginal crank pulley is 4.5kg, the honda race one is 0.8kg.

I also now have a big bore manifold with a 3 inch manifold back exhaust.

It also now has a data logger on the ecu which will be attached to a windows tablet installed in the car that will show massive amounts of live data!

Its taking a lot longer than I planned but I keep buying more haha!

Got a few other new bits, Brand new brakes front and back, new brake lines and new camber arms front and back.

Once the engine is back in, it will be off for tuning.

Will keep updates coming

Here's a few pictures of the ek4 I bought
