My EK9.... take 2

Nice one Irf

how did the paint lay on top of it?

The white Sika is slightly whiter than the oem finish, I was going to get some champ white to touch it in, but with it drying out pretty flexible I was unsure on how the paint would sit on top
Paint set perfectly Dan. I had some left over in a tin so used a small brush and went over it all, sticks perfectly.
Finish is like OEM now, you wouldn't know its been done. I'm glad I used grey because you can actually see where you needed to paint lol

nice, i tested mine today and same as you leak free, bone dry, delighted
Now away to suss out a decent touch up kit

Did you use a clear coat on top or just the paint Irf?

I used 2k paint that was left over from body shop. But you can buy those touch up kits in champ white on eBay for under a tenner. Will work fine. Just keep area dry overnight

Great build up and nice attention to detail, I gave up looking for a ek9 back in 2014 so I imported a FL dc5 threw torque got and it's done 2k miles since owning it lol garage queen is a understatement but it shows how clean they stay not being drove on UK salted or wet roads. Keep up the good work

We update...
New front and rear badges as mine are starting to fade slightly with all the fierce sun we get up here in Scotland :D

these will be going on next time the cars fully detailed

@danbo2002 bit of a backdated question but how do you find all your Spoon bushings? Something I'm thinking about sorting on mine, maybe not with Spoon but did you get a positive difference?

They have all been bought from SpoonSports.eu

Yes they all made a significant difference mate, probably because all my original ones including the engine mounts were all a bit tired and seen better days. The car now feels tight and responsive.

I would say the Spoon bushes are a tad harder than oem but no where near as hard as poly bushes.
The Spoons also work out cheaper than the original Honda ones if your buying them from Honda so it’s a no brainier really

Hope that helps mate

Did the bushings themselves make a massive difference in terms of how the EK9 rides on the road? Inbetween the Spoon bushings and Mugen but the Mugen ones seemed to be much harder to get hold of!

like I said my bushings were fairly worn so it did make a big difference mate

it went from feeling like a twenty year old tired 9 to feeling like a new tight one

I’ve read in a few posts that said they cause unwanted noise and vibration, but I’ve had them on two 9’s now and never experienced any extra noise or vibration

That was my biggest concern with the bushings, unwanted noises and vibrations. If you've not had any noises or vibrations then that sounds like a good indication that they could be the ones to go for.

exactly why I purchased them (again)
I had an EK4 that was fully poly bushed and that was a complete nightmare... solid as a rock, no give, crashy over bumpy roads and plenty extra noise and vibration. Not nice at all for a car on the road

Spoon, Mugen and Cusco all do the hardened rubber versions, these are the only ones I’d recommend bud

Sweet, thank you for the information. I’ll make sure to choose between those three because I don’t want to ruin the car by making it vibrate too much or being too noisy.

cars going into hibernation soon so probably not got onto these until over the winter

on another note.... seen a few of the members from here over the weekend @McJazz @BillyT_EK9 both had a shot of my 9, and I’m glad to say both were really complimentary on how it felt and drove.
I hope you’s enjoyed it guys hopefully catch up again soon

So sick to see the 9 in the flesh and get a run in it. Drives unreal and has given me motivation to get mine more driver friendly! Should I post the couple photos I took of your 9 and the del sol?
