ever wonder how much rpm the b16b can really handle?

well today i accidentally went into 1st gear at 70+mph :angry2: im guessing it went 11,000+rpm by the datalogs from my ecu and guess what, it didnt brake :nice: i wish i could say the same thing about the trans  car still drives, i need a valve job now and the tranny whines really loud  but im glad the motor is still alive.

if your wondering how it happend read on: my 3rd gear had been grinding for a long time and recently during the 2nd to 3rd gear shift it would end up in 5th, this time it ended up in 1st  im going to change the fluid tomorrow and see how much metal comes out.

WOW, i thought i was going to read that you had a "engine blow" impressive what the b16b can handle.

hope you repair your car soon :D

im guessing the short stroke, balanced parts, and dual valvle springs are what saved the motor.

Thats sounds nasty mate ,I have herd a few lads over here dropping down in the wrong gears totalling the gear box !! in integras and eg's civics with type r engines, Must be about 4 people who other forums have done similar things:( Hope you get it sorted:)
