Ok so i've been planning on doing a motor build for my ej and i think ive decided on building a poor man type r. The motor will most likely sit in my garage untill finished. I'll probably getting gsr bottem end and i want to add some ctr pistons to it as well as a thicker head gasket. I dont think I'll need aftermarket head studs or anything like that. As for the head i was wanting to get a b16a head and do a clean port 'n' polish and add in some ctr cams and springs. I was also thinking about getting the civic R intake manifold and if i can ahold of one maybe a mugen/spoon/toda header would be nice too. The main objective for my car will probably be mainly a daily driver with off an on circut runs. It would be nice to get around 200hp to the wheels (with proper tuning ofcourse) and probably somewhere around 11.5 cr. I just want some opinions on this set-up, some Do's an Don'ts would be cool as well. Thanks for your time.

why on earth are you going to put a thicker headgasket? its going to lower your compressiona and mess up your cam timing. other than that the build seems fine but if your going to spend money on cams/valvesprings/retainers/intake manifold dont get the stock ctr parts get the skunk2stage2 or some blox spec B, there about the same price and will make A LOT more power.

that will be a nice build but use a thinner head gasket uprate your injectors and add a programmable ecu (apexi power fc) or (aem ems) depending on budget and you should be sorted!

I was looking to do an all OEM type set-up. I know it going to take some time but I want to build it the right way when its still out of the car. That way I wont have to worry about taking the motor out before its complete. If i upgrade the fuel pump would i need to upgrade the fuel rail and throttle body as well?

stock fuel rail is good for 400whp, upgraded tb is not a bad idea though, WHY do you want to have a bunch of stock type r parts? you WONT make 200 with stock parts.

I really was wanting to make a nice type r replica on a coupe. I figured if I was going to try and build a motor for a circut/mainly street why not use honda parts seeing as how the interior will also be type r. Would it be possible to get 200whp with good ecu and tuning?

To get around that much horsepower what componets would i need to swap out? I need it to be as reliable as possible and i want to do it right.

a properly built motor is just as reliable as anyother motor, what makes them unreliable is the people driving them, and the fact that there usually making double the factory intended hp. anyways for 200whp its not too hard:

-gsr block with pct pistons should get you 11.75:1 cr
-skunk2stage2/briancrower stage2/or blox b cams
-matching valvespring and retainers
-port and polish the head
-aebs intake manifold and 68mm TB
-a good header with a 2.5" collector like rage/hytech/smsp or you can always get an edelbrock and mod the collector.
-2.5" exhaust system
-short ram intake with a velocity stack like BPI
-some sort of ems
-walboro fuel pump and 310cc injectors
-lots of dyno time

Alright thanks for the help! I let you know if i have anymore questions.
