I don't really want to go mad tuning my engine and lose reliability, but wondering what I can do without getting too involved

My engine (B18C6) is in good health having done about 500 miles since I rebuilt it last year. Has a PLM big tube 4-2-1 with 2.5 system straight through, decat and induction kit. Thinking a set of mild cams and a custom map/chip might go well with its current set up which is basically as stock but with breathing mods.

I know there's loads of cams on the market for these but what's the best balance for a road car, can anyone recommend some good fast road cams? Don't want something mega lumpy or that's only gonna make good power over 9k etc..

I guess for what it is, it's a fantastic engine as it is. Just love messing ;)

I think worth while gains are going to be difficult with stock compression. My buddy has skunk2 pro 1s in his b18c6, with itbs it makes 220hp.

I've read Skunk2 Tuner 2 or 3 are good and a popular choice, upgrade over stock without having to raise the compression. Think I saw an old thread with Vtec6000 saying can get decent power on them

Flat valves could help a bit I'm guessing but means more messing about removing the head. Would wanna get it dialled in by someone who knew their **** with regards to setting the cam timing and mapping too. The car only weighs 750Kg with a 4.7FD S80 box so it goes well already

What other breathing mods have you got? You have to look at everything as a package, some camshafts based off of there profiles will work better with "X" type intake and "X" type exhaust, the key is getting all those components working in harmony. Straight off the bat I'd probably suggest that you change out your current big tube header for something along the lines of a Toda V2, there is several companies who make good replica's of this header for not a lot of money.

Nothing major really, the 4-2-1 exhaust, straight through silencer and decat. Whale cock induction kit.. which I know some people say aren't the best but it's in a kit car and the packaging is difficult. When the car had a B16a2 in it there was just a cone filter sat on the TB and the exhaust silencer is directly below it so it has to be better than that

EK9 cams, PLM Header and a blox velocity stack would probably be the best mods without costing very much

Ermmmmm the EK9 cams are barely different to the DC2 cams? Nothing that would be noticeable
