Hey guys, 17 now! xD Starting to learn to drive!

And...

Looking for a motor =] - I'm really stuck between options, my thoughts were:

Option 1: Maybe my sisters 04' Fiesta LX for 2/3 years, then when I'm 19/20 and then get an EK9 standard, then go from there.

Option 2
: Pick up a cheap EG6 and slowly mod it up through the years.

Option 3
: Pick up a cheap EK4 and slowly mod it up through the years.

I really love the EK9's, but i just can't get one, insurance wise and price wise until I'm at least 19/20 , and thats too long to wait for a civic! =P hah, so the EG6 + EK4 are options for now until I'm at the age of getting an EK9.

But i wouldn't want them standard, would have to do slight modifications. =D

What are your thoughts guys ? xD

eg6 or ek4 are both great options, i think the ek4 looks a lot better, but the eg6 is lighter, i say pick the one you like best for looks.

Buy an ek4 with as low miles as possible, it makes life easier.
But the eg6 and the ek4 have tons of potential.

This may be a dumb question but have you checked out insurance for both cars yet ? I had a eg6 befor my EK9 and insurance was still high (group 16 i think)
That thing was sweet they are nice and light and will take a EK4 down. If you did go for the EK4 you could go down the road of making a EK9 replica.
Let us know what you decide to do.

Yeh, i will do! Cheers for the advice.

It's just money doing it up isn't it =P

Currenly have 1.5K at the moment, but i'm pretty sure my parents would buy the car to start off with, then i'd just do it up with the money i have.

Got a good friend who works as a car sprayer in a garage that also do repair work, and engine work, so the price of getting it done would be dropped a fair bit. I just wouldn't know what to do with it when i get it.

I'd think of getting an EG6, then putting a kit on it, like bumpers, front and back, rims of course, and just little bits here and there on the exterior, would love to get a white one, black rims, carbon bonet, sweet bumper with carbon lip, and carbon spoiler (lil one). Then keep the engine as it is, then maybe after year or so, get a B16 put in, then induction kit, and little bits here n there.

But its just work, and money! =[

I will go for the option # 3!

steer away from option 1...:D

any of the other two options will give u a nice smile everytime u drive. ej6(B16A) insurance grp 16, ek4(b16A) grp 15... both r high groups for first time drivers... get ur insurance quote 1st then decide frm there...

if u opt for an ek4 u can use sme of the mods of it for ur future ek9, as they would fit fine:nice:

In your case I would easily say option 3. Surely, EK9 worths the wait but it would take too long for you I think.......... :D

17 and trying to get insurance on an eg6 or an ek4 is a no no - i can just manage to get insurance on my ek4 and i'm 21!! Most insurance company's arent allowed to insure anyone on a car above insurance group 15 unless they are 21 or above :(

Sorry for it being a very negative post but its just the truth matey

nah, not neggative at all. Much appreciated =P

I have in actual fact looking into it, and the prices are ridiculous. And if anything, in Scotland, its bound to be cheaper than down south here =P

Going for the fiesta i think! Then when i'm 19 or so, go for an eg6!

If your getting an EK9 in the future then save your money and mod that and get either ek4 or eg6 which ever is cheaper or performs better.

option 3 mate all the way

try elephant for insurance they are the cheapest i found,

good luck

What did you manage to find? I'm getting over 2K quotes. And thats the cheapest, i been quoted 4K.

I'd like to get an EK9 when I'm older rather than getting an EK4 and spending tones of money on it, just to get it to just about match with the EK9 performance wise, it just wouldn't be worth it. And I'm sure in a couple of years i could pick up a lovely EK9 for about 5K. Then I'd just slightly mod the exterior.

option2. go for an SiR instead of a vti though. with a few mods like exhaust, mani decat and intake they are a quick lil car. strip it too. my friend has his stripped and full exhaust and intake and i saw his rear lights:(
