NeilVtec EK9 Build up


Well on saturday i made the roadtrip upto DMS Motorsport in kent to get my new Hardrace bushes fitted , Buddy club front and rear camber adjusters fitted & H-brace fitted, finished off with a Fast Road / Track Allignment :D handles even better now :D feels so tight around corners! anyways... on with the pics! no pics of the bushes as they look pretty much the same haha (once again no progress pics sorry! )

as you can see the manifold is touching the H-brace, damn lack of clearance! Heat wrap i think is a must lol

Thanks again to the guys at DMS for sorting it out, some serious cars theres aswell! including a vtec mini and a 850Bhp Evo , and of course dixons DC2 :p

as you can see its all in a horrificly dirty state underneath atm after winter but il get it all cleaned up & Sealed soon, probabaly when doing the Braided brake lines :)

and a quick snap of how its looking atm, Gota get some more pics of the sprintharts on the car before i get my 5stud conversion , im good for the bigger brakes and ek9 wheels, but gutted i gotta loose my spinrtharts and my other wheels :( lol

Just got back from the nurburgring... OMG What a place, its heaven while still being alive! just had to say how pleased with the car i was, after being set up nicely and putting the R888's on, it handled unbelievably well, Just cant wait to go back now! im thinking end of august if i can get the money together :plot: :D :D

5 stud conversion coming in a couple of weeks and some EK9 wheels :)
(my cheapest option of getting bigger brakes lol :D)
 
sadly the sprintharts have gone :(..... to a good home and here are whats replacing them soon :) EK9 Front and rear Hub Conversion! still rocking the clubstars atm but soon my sister will have them for her car! (Front & Rear Hubs off EK4 to be up for sale once theese are fitted, PM me if u want any info but dont ask about em on this build-up :) ) ( also x 4 VTI alloys without tyres in Good condition, and x1 BAND NEW never fitted still gleaming EK VTI spare wheel with original factory fitted tyre in 100% New condition, Il put in forsale section soon )

As you can see ive only given the one wheel a clean and it took about an hour, the rest will be done in time haha as they are a state! No curbing tho just loads of brake dust lol!

Il update when they are fitted!! Mite be a while yet as i want new tyres etc first and need to swap the RTA bushes over as my EK4 arms have hardrace bushings in :) .. unless anyone knows it the rear hub will bolt onto either of the Rear trailing arms (ek4 & EK9)?? mite be easier than trying to press the bushes out if i can just unbolt the hubs and swap them over with swapping the RTA's

Nice mate coming on leaps and bounds! Out of interest do you kno what set up the used? Camber, toe?

Also what hardrace bushes where they and how much was that to be fitted?

Q. How much was the camber kit & how much did it improve handling?

Does it cause un even tyre wear or anything liek that?
 
if anyhting there is less uneven tyre wear than when it was just lowered without them, it just set the front and rear to a few degrees negative (il get the print out and tell you exactly what when i get home) Made it handle alot better once set up!

The bushes kit i used was the Hardrace Full bush kit, and the kit with fitting was £550, (bargain) at DMS motorsport in kent, Set up & Camber adjusters fitted front and rear for £350 (i think it was £250 for the fast road / track set up ) also done at DMS, handles like a dream now though definately worth doing, i think i need some harder spring rates now :)

well i needed some center caps and the best price i could find was £80 for x4, and i like to buy genuine parts but il never spend £20 per 10 year old plastic center cap lol and as i needed tyres anyways i thought i would try and save myself money and gain a set a wheels, so i started searched for some DC2 wheels in CSW, shortly after i found some for the same sort of price id of paid for tyres and centercaps,

Saw theese for sale on wednesday....

and Well... i went and collected them today for the grand price of £245, With some nice RE01's on em in pretty good condition, Ive Got some pics of each wheel, as you can tell the front 2 have some scabs on em so will be refurbed at some point lol but taken the center caps out and cleaned them up to good as new so they can go on the minty fresh ek9 wheels :D Hopefully fitting the Conversion next weekend so il update it when its done :)

I have recently bought my tyres ready for the ring. and unexpectedly bought them second hand becuase that way i got some wheels included :p only £280 and theyve got plenty of tread left for what i need!

Now just a case of getting
full set of bushes fitted,
camber kits fitted,
H-brace fitted,
Braided lines fitted,
New Pads allround
oilchange just before i go!
and getting the R888's put on my sprintharts instead of the new wheels so i can use the new ones as dailys :) Il keep you posted!

what wheels are they?
 
they are rota CLUBSTAR's im not sure if they are still making them? , i think they are tho, just not in green! absolutely love them and would want another set but they dont do 5x114.3 :(

Well on monday night me and dale (eg-greeny on Civiclife) took on the task of changing over the hubs, took us from 7pm until 1:15am lol not kool when youve got work the next day!

while doing it we Discovered why the car felt wierd on sunday after my "spirited" drive. One of the front ARB droplinks has broken, and one of the D-bushes has snapped the bolt out the chassis so i need to go get that sorted asap!! either way i didnt get any progress pics as we were just getting the mission on, still need new master cylinder & servo & Droplinks all sorting so not cleaned it / got any pics yet, once that is done itl get some good photos :)

Unexpected update! Got my spoiler tilted by Mr Si_vti and a quick clean ready for the EK9 wheels 2morrow :D ..... fudgin OEM droplinks dont fit F7 LCA's :( gotta buy some aftermarket ones now! dammit!

Toady was the day to put the new wheels on :Dwhile had the other wheels off gave the arches a clean and u can see i got my braided brake lines & new droplinks on :)

Then copper eased the back of the wheel a tinnyy bit just to stop em sticking to the hubs lol
