Well lads here it is..the new 2011 Honda Civic.

Frankfurt 2011: new Honda Civic - BBC Top Gear

Quoted from website: "The styling is smoother than before, and endless detail wind-tunnel work has lowered the drag to make it quieter and more economical at motorway speed. Recognise it by the black-goateed nose and the pair of wave-form arch-lines above the wheels.

Under the hood, Honda's 1.4 and 1.8 petrol motors live on, but the headlines will be scooped up by the diesel. The 2.2-litre unit swells to 150bhp, but at the same time gets massively more economical. The 110g/km CO2 rating is about as good as you can get without capitulating to dreary performance.

Honda says the chassis has been breathed on to smooth the ride, quieten the racket AND sharpen the handling. But as the Civic is bolted to a motor show stand and we can't drive it, we'll wait and be the judge of that later.

We have sat in it, and we can attest that the materials and décor have caught up with the class standards. And it's still got that super-clever cinema-lifting back seat.

To the question you're frantically asking, Honda people won't give a definite answer: will a Type-R turn up eventually? They don't rule it out. Which is Japanese code for ruling it in. Phew"

Thought I'd throw in a video also ;)

First time I saw it I wasn't totally convinced but the more I see it it's really growing on me. What I like is how you can see the Civic DNA; like the grooves in the bonnet and the profile of the side windows and the larger center dial in the cluster, which all started with the EK. What doesn't help is the gash colour and Max Power wheels. I reckon in Championship White with some 7 spoke wheels and a spoiler it'll look great!

Thing is all new cars have to meet so many regs that they all start to look like each other, but when you look at the finer details you see the history and what makes it special

I think it will look better in a better colour

as said its HORRID! only good thing is the fancy interior which is ripped out of the last civic.

nasty! would have been interesting to see what a type r version would have looked like though?

I have a few opinions on the car personally since I have been looking into it in more detail.

Kind of roughly the same view as which Bl!tz pointed out. It is starting to grow on me a little you can see the Civic DNA from 96-2004 in there and obviously some from 2006+ HOWEVER it looks slightly like the new Ford Focus; I know that Honda where adamant to beat Ford's new focus with this Civic on sales etc.. Perhaps it's based a little too much on beating the car.

Another feature Honda add is that the car is the most aerodynamic civic made which Is a benefit especially since they may possibly make this a future Type R BUT then again as this car ALSO has a rear strut instead of Independent suspension then this is another turn off; HOWEVER haha Honda say that there new "Fluid Filled Compliance bushings" make the car much more agile...so I guess we really need to wait until someone actually test drives this. But overall I think it looks not too bad....definitely need to bring back the people who worked for Honda in the 90's though ;)

not too gone in it to be honest..
i do like the interior though but the shape is just too bulky and it looks
like all the modern/new cars eg.focus.

been seeing more and more of these.. cant see this one growing on me at all!

Nope me neither, it starts off fairly good at the front but it just gets worse as you look further back and i cant see any civic "dna" besides the badge wich isnt even similar lol. it just looks similar to the FN wich looked nothing like the eg/ek/ep.

Still its a honda so it will no doubt be a quality piece of machinery!

Am I on my own in thinking I really like them? I've seen quite a few on the road and I honestly think even if I wasn't into my Hondas I'd consider it one of the better looking cars coming out in recent times. Much better looking shape than the FN2.

Think the front end could look good once that black bit is smoothed out but the rear end is horrible. After the FN2 it all went wrong lol

i just wonder how they went from civic to spaceship :(

that black "goatee" thing on the front looks f**king horrendous, and the split window spoiler/brakelight thing doesnt make it look any better. at least they have the hidden 5 door handes again lol

The only pics i have found of the new type r
