Folks

im after a set of new engine and gearbox mounts.
im looking for something a bit tighter but not something that will rattle the cockpit to pieces.

any suggestions ?

cheers

That would completely rule out all poly type (Hasport style) mounts, unless you can find something in 60A Shore hardness.

Otherwise a crock of **** each and every one of them, and fit for drag racing and nothing else. Hands down the worst mod of any mod.

Actually filling standard ruber mounds with urethane is a pretty good balance, but isn't pretty.

In other circles "Vibratechnics" is THE name in sporty but not car-destroying mounts, but doubt they do Civics.

Just had a quick look and I'd be sniffing round the Hardrace items I think.

Would agree with JohnTurbo and avoid poly mounts at all costs

I’ve used the Spoon engine mount kit on two EK9’s and I cannot fault them.
A little stiffer than OEM mounts but not bone shaking like the poly ones, they are perfect for a fast road car imo

Heard good things about the Hardrace variants to, they are same design as the Spoon kit with the oem styled hardened rubber.
Other brands that do this style are Mugen and Cusco

With experience of Hardrace, Spoon & Hasport (albeit 82a) I would go for Mugen if you were worried about cabin vibrations.

Spoon & HR do settle down a wee bit but still rattle and vibrate the dash.

Thanks folks. Going to try to avoid as much interior vibrations as I can!

I am curious what you have against poly though, I havent done a ton of research but from what Ive seen people seem to like poly? Whats pros/cons?

I am a Mechanical Design engineer with 4 patents to my name.
To design an engine mount - it has complicated requirements. On one hand it needs to support the engine on various planes, and on the other hand it needs to isolate the car from vibration. This isn't just a comfort issue - vibration brakes things. Everything from motors, to electonics to causing metal fatigue.

Some mount designs are ingenious - using oil filling, carefully designed rubber sections from materials with high internal damping, shapes and forms that are strong in one direction and not another.
These solid designs are an insult to the engineering that goes into 'proper' parts. Its what you would expect from a 10 year old asked to solve the problem.

They suit ONLY drag racing because of the high load and short duration.
Otherwise they totally fail to isolate the cabin from vibration which is incredibly loud and unpleasant, but also disasterous for the life and reliability of every other system in the vehicle.
