hi all
i am new to this site and am looking for advice from the people that know.

could i ask a few questions as i am looking to buy an ek9 but have no clue on how to go about it, what importers to look at, wheather to buy one that is in the country already, what the insurace will be like, and weather parts are easy to get hold of as i know it is the b16b not the 16a whick is common in england,

i have always wanted a civic since i could drive and when i read about the ek9 a year ago i was hooked so now that ihave a bit of money i want to invest in the car i have always wanted,

sorry to bombard with messages but it looks like you people have been doing this for a while could you advise me one what process to go through and what to avoid etc

thanks again :thanks:

adam

Where are you based? we could source one for you or possibly sell you one thats already in the country, if you are in England i can put you in touch with a guy who always has one or two in stock :)

As insurance goes not sure what to say, im 31 and its not much different to insuring a DC2 or EK4 VTi, i use elephant and have 3 years no claims

thanks i am in Birmingham England. where are you based? any ifo would be great, is there anything I should look out for i.e. problems? how does the EK9 rate, is it as good as i am expecting? And are parts hard to get hold of?

cheers

adam

hello and welcome! i can't help you because i live in the other side of the pond lol.

What i can recommend you is to find a good export company in japan, you can ask here for refernce before buying, also Neo is importing ek9s to UK, he can help you get one!

We are based in Stirling and Aberdeen in Scotland, Birmingham isnt too far away really :p

As im not sure what you expect of an EK9 i cant really say, but if you have been in a UK VTi, Jordan etc i can tell you they are much better, handle better, have nicer interior etc

Parts aint to bad to get i know some guys in hte uk who break ek9s regularly

As for problems well no not really, you may get the cam seal leaking a little but its a cheap fix, other things that can go is bushes, apart from that if you look after it like you would any other car

thanks for the reply. so the uk model vti or jordan are similar then? i thought the ek9 was higher in performance isnt he 0-60 over 2 seconds quicker? i have been in a uk vti and it was quick and i fell in love withthe rev range. i am told that you sell EK9s do you have any now and what sort of money do they go for? can you modify a vti up to ek9 performance?

Hi again m8, yeah the EK9 has many differences compared to an EK4 VTi, i just mean if you think a VTi is a nice fast car you will love the EK9 so much better, LSD gearbox, better suspension, handling and interior etc

I have a 98 on route which will be on the road around may/june its possibly for sale, otherwise we can source one for you depending on your budget etc

Let me or Mint know what your looking for etc

thanks ..

so how much am I looking at for a good one then? 6,7 k?

How do you go about sourcing one then are they available or are they hard to get hold of? i haven’t seen many in England in fact I haven’t seen any on the road.

the one that is coming soon is it already sold? I will be looking to buy one around the end of the year. should have 2 years no claims by then not a lot i know but better than non, what insurance company are you with? I have got a quote fully comp on a vti-s EK4 for £840, you think the EK9 will be much higher?

sorry again for all the questions.

Should get a 97/98 for 6-7k yeah and would be grade 3.5 or more

As for your insurance it will be a bit more for the EK9, i cant tell you how much more unfortunatly

thats great,do you have a website where i can get some more information?

i have just answered my own question.

what is the general conditoin of the cars that come in is grad 3.5 v.good and are the cars MOT tested etc before they are sold or is that up to the buyer?

Grade 3.5 is good, grade 4 is excellant, grade 5 you aint gonna get in anything but a new car

all cars supplied with us will have one years mot, 6 months tax, the buyer will also be the first owner in the uk

insurance isn't too bad on them. . . . . .

i've been quoted £900 fully comp, thats with pass plus, 2 years NCB on a 98' EK9 and i'll be 20 when i come to insure it (car is on it's way from Japan at the moment), just got to shop around a bit! :nice:

thanks

so a 3.5 is a good bet then?

steve - where did you get your civic from which importers? did you get a quote on a civic type r or a 1.6 vtec as some say that onthe v5 or whatever paperwork you get? can it be insured as a 1.6 vti?

3.5 is good, i bought 3 jdms before, in 3.5 grade, they were perfect cars no problem at all, my EK9 was grade 4.0 like new man!
