Hi All,

Been a long time lurker on EK9 as I've always owned Hondas and among them was fortunate to own two EBP EM1s. About a year ago my EM1 was hit outside my house and while repairable I was past it mentally. I also have a JDM Integra Type R DB8 so I turned all my focus on that build.

With the EK9's coming to the US market end of last year I wanted to get back into a Civic so I started the process of finding one and have it imported.

After a 3 month wait from time of purchase to landed it's finally here (as of last week). First on deck is to slowly strip and deep clean and access it's needs.

I'll try and create a "build page", just have to remind myself to snap photos during the process, which I tend to forget. lol.

Hi and welcome. Is your EK9 standard ? They can't be many preface EK9's left in Japan now ?
Thanks! Yes sir, standard EK9 with all the interior goods present..even the steering wheel which never seems to make it out of Japan on these cars. lol.

I wanted a preface has Ive already had the EM1s already.

Both look lovely, but that teg really does look a cut above the rest
Thank you! The DB8 has been fully refreshed from the ground up since I've owned it( two plus years). With the motor getting rebuilt now.

I've already torn the ek9s old suspension and brakes down and in process of installing all new suspension front to back. lol. The ek9 def needs some love at the moment.

Thanks all for the welcome!

It's current state. LOL. Swapping all new suspension(all new arms front to back and ball joints) including new axles(torn boot) and brakes top to bottom. Rear done with all new hardware from Honda.

Hey Dcharles,

Have you still got the original suspension? What condition is it in.?...how many Km's on them?
I might be interested in buying the set up off you...

Thanks

Hey my friend,

No the original suspension was changed out for Cusco coilovers. But I still have the front/rear lower control arms and sway bar I'll keep to have with the car for possible future use as I put on new Hardrace arms(assemblies) front to back.

Thanks for the reply mate!
Ok understood, thought I'd ask just in case...;)

Updated look. Group B unlimited wheels in "gunmetal" on some fresh Yokohama Advan's. All new suspension front to back, insane shaft axles, EBC rotors/HPS street pads and buddy club street spec coilovers. On to engine bay refresh.

Looks so much better , did you get new headlights ?
No, same headlights just used the restoration kit below (link). Other then some general haze they're in pretty good shape.

Never been a fan of 4 door Honda's but yours looks stunning to be fair :bow:love the Ek9 but I have always just loved the look of pre-facelifts. Update pics are very nice :)

I was torn on buying a DC2 as I had a 4 door GSR in my 20s but knowing the low amount of DB8 Type R's ever made, it an easy decision and it was all original/stock as well. So just updated all suspension/brakes etc. Its currently getting the motor and transmission rebuilt. Motor is getting high(er) compression pistons with Toda Spec B cams and all supporting drivetrain and mods. Once finished I may post in the Integra section with a build list and dyno numbers. Just incase anyone is still building B-Series motors out here. :naughty:

And I've owned two EM1s and really wanted a pre-facelift EK9, so I'm happy I was able to secure one.

Small engine bay update. New VC, small maintenance(dist cap/rotor/fuel filter/plugs/wires). Using Resto Tuner (link below) hardware throughout to clean up all the small bolts. Koyo Rad with new OEM coolant tank/hoses. https://www.restotuner.com/

Lastly I had to throw on a PWJDM intake for the loud induction noise in VTEC!! Don't Judge. lol.

Next up:
Spoon motor mounts and Spoon RTA bushings (Installed the Spoon torque mounts as the stock ones were toasted and barely hanging on).
Inner Tie Rods(outer already done)
Unfortunately have a power steering leak on one of the return lines so need to see if the subframe needs to be drop :nerv:
I have a few FEELS pieces coming in as well.

I have a problem in wanting to do everything at once before enjoying/driving. lol. Gets expensive quickly.

Small Update:
-Spoon motor mounts/RTA bushings done/Torque mounts (main mount photo wont upload but changed)
-Feels Twincam baffled oil pan came in(photo attached) so will install soon and re-polish the Fujitisubo Header while its off.

Spoon mounts have a slightly higher durometer than OEM but no vibrations in the cabin at all. Driving feels a lot more crisp and responsive.
Used these on my ITR and loved them. Worth the $$.
