Hi guys,

As per the title I'm looking to pick up an ek9 I've found on Pistonheads... looks a solid clean car but was just curious if any of you guys know the car itself or could point me in the direction of the ex-owners build thread (if there was/is one).

Cheers in advance :)

I dont know personally but seems nice. If you dont mind a car with upgrades that were not you to chose thats great!

Again not sure on the car but looks good, would seem to have had a bit of money spent on coilovers and wheels. Just give it a good check mate. Probably worth doing an hpi on it. A lot of money and if nobody knows the history of the car, you never know.

Was going to buy an evo of this guy about 2 years ago. He bought the car two days before from the forum. He wanted 2.5 k more and never bothered to clean it or do anything to it. so glad I never bought it as I found a better example for less.
I personally think it's top money for an ek9. It must be good condition. Mileage is abit high.

The centre air vent is missing aswell

That's a fairly steep price imho, he's obviously a re-seller so needs to make a profit. Personally I prefer buying private, selling cars for a living is obviously about making profit so you can be sure that A) you're paying over the odds and B) if anything needed fixed it was most likely done as cheap as possible. No doubt there are exemptions to that and there are decent dealers but my personal experience with used car dealers is that every single one I've had the misfortune of dealing with has been awful. For that reason I always try to source the car I want from a private seller.

Mileage is abit high.

Mileage I'd say is OK (around 5000 miles a year?) IF it is the true mileage. With a 15 year old import mileage is always going to be questionable, unless you buy from an importer with all import documents etc, but even then.... Overall condition and the level of past maintenance are more important imho.

Your right he's only in it for the money, Nothing else. But then again which trader isn't?

Cheers for all the replies guys, everything you've said was all true to an extent!

He is a re-seller but its been in a while so wanted rid of it quick to keep the turnover going I guess. Had been advertised for 7k when it first came up!

Took my mate with me who runs a garage and he pretty much did an MOT on it, nothing major wrong accept a few bushes that could do with replacing and a front CV gaiter that was leaking.

Got it for just under 6k with a new MOT that's being put on it this week, so all in all very happy!

Theres a few obvious little bits like the vent missing, one of the front fog surrounds has a small crack and the rocker cover has lost a bit of paint but nothing a little bit of time can't sort.

Drives straight and pulls like a train on Vtec :D

picking it up at the end of the month so will take some fresh picutres and make a thread when it comes home.
