Got car running, only seeing 12v though at the battery so it's not charging. Was fine before and as far as I'm aware I've put everything back as it was.

Plugged the alternator in and the earth lead from the alternator I've put to the gearbox where my main earth from the battery is, seem OK??

Battery earth's directly to the chassis on mine. Can't quite remember what I've done with the alternator though

No chassis as such on my car so what I have is a main earth to the box and then I've earthed everything else including the earth lead on top of the alternator to that

If there is I'd imagine is would be in the engine bay fuse box (on an ek civic)
Have you got a subframe you can attach an earth too? I'm assuming it worked placed on the box before?

Think I've connected it up wrong, the post on the top of the alternator I thought was a ground but Google says it's the output wire so it should go to the + to the batt?

Yeah you have the output to battery and starter I think? It's been a while since I've looked at mine.
I can take a look for you in about half an hour?
Anything else you want me to check whilst I'm there?

No mate just that, so it's the little post on top of the alternator with a 10mm nut

Thankfully it won't have done any damage as the windings in the alternator can't generate voltage with it being grounded - done this before but it was on purpose that time....!

Single white wire straight to battery, single green plug
