I have been to look at an ek9 this weekend and have put a deposit down for first refusal on one which is on its way over from japan at the mo.

The civic has got an aftermarket exhaust, new wheels and tein suspension. Inside its got a different steering wheel and gear knob.

I'm slightly worried about buying a modified example of an ek9, should i be worried if its a god example and looks ok??? :nerv:

also I want the original steering wheel put back in aswell cuz i want it standard, do they come with airbags??

Cheers

Have you t a link to the ek9 in question mate? and yes the standard wheels have an air bag, also what year is it? because if it is 98 or over it has to be compleyely standard for the sva test as i found out :( hence why i can't put mine on the road till june.

I think you shouldn't worry, I recently bought a track only car with 120,000 km (track kilometers) and the car was in perfect shape :nice:

All Ek9's have been thrashed. I wouldn't worry about any aftermarket parts. Mine came with an RS*R exhaust, Apexi RSM, Defi's, allsorts! I just sold it all.

they dont all come with airbags. mine comes with the same steering wheel as the DC2 and i have a promo civic type r mag that shows the non srs steering wheel.

i wouldnt worry about the mods.as long as they are tastefull. but at the end of the day it all depends if you want a modified example or not. it may be costly changing back if its not what you want.

is this true about it not passing its SVA test if its modified e.g exhaust

Yes, if the car is less than 10 years old, it'll need to be SVA'd and be complete standard as shown in the Model Report

mine came with an HKS hi power exhaust on and had the standard one in the back, but was stolen in transit, even thought the mats and gear nob were still there. but come june it will be 10 so no sva :nice:

here is the car mike is on about,,

looks bloody tasty i have to say :D

but depends what you want to do with it..if you want the decals back on then they are about £25 each or more for the sides and i think £40 odd for the rear.something stupid like that.
the original gear knobs tend to fetch a few quid and the steering wheels are to bastard expensive...just a thought if you wanted to take it all back to standard.

does look tasty though.

Thanks for all the comments on the above.

I really am looking forward to seeing the ek9 in the flesh as i've only seen pics so far.

The only reason I was worried is because you often find modified cars have a bit more abuse than others.

The car is 1999 and will need to be sva tested because I asked what was needed to be done when it arives. Problem is they never said anything about putting back to standard.......

I guess if that is the case then its upto them to do it lol which is waht I want.

Looking at the picture above put on by Ollyek9, which is the ek9 i am looking at buying, look at the front bumper is that a aftermarket splitter or is that standard?

Just wondering cuz I aint seen any other pics of ek9's with that on???

if they are doing the SVA for you then its there worry..but if your doing it it could be a bitch unless u have ways of getting your hands on all the standard parts

Yeah the company i'm buying the car from will have to sort the sva out but they never mentioned to be about putting the car back to standard.

When you say standard does that mean everything, i.e. steering wheel & gear shifter, suspension, wheels.... will all have to come off?

as far as im aware yes. but i may be wrong. dunk may be able to shed more light on it.

the sva takes everything into acount, even goes into things like button depths to make sure they comply with safety incase of impact and all that ****! way to extreme if you ask me. shouldnt be a problem though. :)

but its the reason i went for a 97. so that i could avoid it. (and i prefer the prefacelift.lol)

they will prob put it back to std get it sav`d then put it back to modified again,, tehy must do it all teh time i expect they know how to get round it,,
