Hey, i bought an EK9 in AUgust this year. I had a short time insurance to get the car to Austria.

The are plates still on the car and is registered in the UK nut there is no Insurance on the car!

I heard about a colleague that he must pay round about 600€ because he was to long in austria with his uk car.

Do i have to send the plates back to the uk and where? :)

Hope you understand my problem and know some answers.

greets from austria

wow thats a noggin scratcher

can you not change it to austrian plates?

bevore i get the austrian plates i have to register it here. And it will take a few months because of private things. But i dont know what i have to do with the plates. To return them or to trash them

I'm from Ireland. but i think if you just email the dvla and tell them its gone out of the uk.. you can then dump the plates when you have it registered in you country

All you need to do is sign and date the purple purple section of the uk registration document (V5). Detach just the purple section and send it to the address on the back. The plates can just go in the bin.
