I have not been on the forum a great deal lately but I should be about more often now. I am planning a trip to the Nurburgring for the end of April.

For those that know me will know that my EK9 has remained standard since I got it. Time to spend my saved money on a trip to the Ring.

Will be looking to pick up some bits before the trip. No dramatic go faster mods, as getting it home in one piece is the name of the game.

I’ve got very little track experience but will try and get a day or two in before Germany.

I am considering hiring a vehicle trailer and towing the EK9 over. Will certainly add to the cost but all part of the occasion. Anyone hired a trailer before?

I will keep this thread updated as I get the car and myself ready for the trip

I know many members on here have taken the trip and any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I still haven’t decided on accommodation yet so if there are any recommendations please let me know.

Sounds class mert , are you thinking about trailoring the car to avoid running up miles or incase you smash it ? Are you going over with dan .

Mainly think trailering it over would be cool. Got the Jeep, so why not. Saves the mileage and don't have to pile everything in the 9. Will be doing my best to avoid smashing it though

Going with my Dad....Dan is free to join though haha

Hey mate,

I'm in the early stages of planning out a road trip this spring/summer...
We're going to swing by the ring, then through the alps and into Italy to take a look at Imola, and the potentially back up through France fill our boots on nice wines :)

Probably going to go around June. If you're interested in coming along, drop me a pm

If only u were going later on, me n a few guys on here r going first week in june, gonna go to the ring then down to the swis alps for a few days.

Sounds like a good plan.

What mods are you doing?

If you need a trailer my boss also hires trailers. If you let me know how long you would want it for I can get you prices. Would do my best to get you a discount as well.

I'm heading over with a rake of mates in July does anyone know anywhere to go stuff to do after we leave the ring fancy going Belgium or France to do something

Thanks for the offer mate. Restricted to when I can go, so it is looking like I will have to stick to the end of April/ beginning of May time.

Sounds like a great trip man. Would be a cool trip to make in a convoy

No major plans yet, getting some track alloys and considering a brake upgrade.

That would be great Keith. I aim to go the week beginining the 22nd April 2013, so if you could get a price for 8-9 days then would be great. :)

Will let you know how I get on but would love some recommendations from those who have already been aswell.

Will do mate. Sounds like a good plan.

will get a price and give you a shout :nice:

Heard about this the other day... Mega mate ! Just wish i could come with you haha :p
See you at the quay to discuss :secret: :D

Since going, I would strongly advise you to get a good suspension setup, brake setup and a second set of wheels with track tyres! Apart from that the 9 is a capable and fun car on the ring :)

Yes, can't wait man.

Going for a brake upgrade and spare set of wheels/ tyres. Planning to leave the suspension as it is.

just drive your car there yo

Still not 100% set on the trailer but going to be taking two cars anyway... thought taking the trailer would be more of an adventure aha

Always good to upgrade brakes, but std will be more than enough at the ring. You will hardly be using your brakes there.

Cool trip went last year with the Dc2 good idea to upgrade the brakes warped mine (standard setup) the stock suspension felt fine, and for the tyres i used AD08's (lasted 6000miles including the trip):nice:

I realise upgrading the brakes might be overkill, but no harm done.

Considereing going for the same tyres. Debating over what wheels to go with at the moment :blinx:

I just used the stock 15" wheels tyres are alot cheaper, we went end of May when we had the hot weather and the tyres worked very well, will be buying them again.
