Peugeot 205 road rally car , building ek stage rally car
My first post ! In fact my first Honda !,having rallied a Peugeot 205 for many years I’ve decided to build a ej9 with k20 engine etc .
I have an electric powered steering column on the 205 - corsa- what are the options for the civic it has hydraulic rack as standard but what are they like? No pump on the k20 engine so is it electric pump or does anything else work?

on my kswap ek9 i use a accord pump. My mates k swap ek, he uses mr2 electric power steering. Another mate uses vauxhall astra electric pump. Another uses mercedes a class pump.,

Obvousily with all u need custom high pressure line, bracket to hold the pumps(if not honda) etc

are there any better rack ratios available? Is the integra any better ? I mean quicker
I like the power column in the 205 as I have a switch on the handbrake to give more assist when pulled
so would a none power rack be available for this ?...

Regarding ratios EK4 and EK9 rack is quicker, still not mega quick though. I’m sure there was an aftermarket rack available, after all these are very popular cars for rallying. I think Quaife made them.

Had a look on the quaife site and only lhd options available!!
So ek4/9 rack is the same then ?
If I go with power column then I guess just take out all the internal seals for hydraulics and bung up the ports ??
Any suggestions for steering arms and t

Now looking for dc2 subframe and rack ,. Are there any out there???

Is the dc2 subframe and rack the best way to go or is the ek9 the same ? Does the dc2 give better geometry or is it just the different engine position? How does this affect driveshaft angles? Any photos about???

DC2/EG/MB SUBFRAMES fit the eks, also gives the driveshafts a more straight line from gearbox to hubs. Would have to use ekk2 mounts.
I think the dc2 steering rack is slightly quicker but im not 100%

I would highly recommend not going ekk1 mounts with the standard ek subframe.

Sorry i didnt reply faster, been on furlough and havnt had access to a computer till today

Thanks for the reply, I have now found a dc2 subframe with rack and wishbones so will use this and convert to electric column , what make of bushes work best for rallying, needs to be extremely tough but not solid?

Im running hard race bushes for my rack and all my arms on the vehicle.

Hardrace is not at all a bad choice, except perhaps the rear trailing arm bushes. Honda designed rear suspension in such a way it toes in under braking which stabilises the rear end. On a road car and track car I’d always go with OEM bush but on a rally car you might prefer the back end a bit livelier. Just something to know about and consider when you set the car up.
