Hi Guys

I'm upgrading my measuring equipment, looking for a set of external micrometers and a bore gauge. Just wandering what make people recommend? NSK, Mitutoyo, M&W?

Or if anyone is selling/knows of someone selling some let me know. I would rather spend more on better quality second hand than less on cheap new.

I have a small mitutoyo mic I got 2nd hand. Nicely made and real pleasure to use.
Come to think of it I think I've got NSK aswell but I prefer the Mitutoyo tbh.

My bore gauges are telescopic but if I was buying again I'd go the full 9 yards and get a better type with the digital reading and adjustable bits etc. I found the telescopic a little difficult to get repeat results and if your too rough can damage the hone on the cylinders a little.
Sound investment for building engines anyway, plus it's like engineer guy bling having top quality equipment isn't it lol

We have always used Mitutoyo in work and I believe that they are very accurate for what you would need

I've got a Mitutoyo Dti gauge and its superb.

If i were you i would stay away from digital stuff. Its easier to maintain and fix normal equipment.
Keep it simple:nice:

We generally use mitutoyo at work. I still like my old analogue vernier calipers, battery doest go flat, no one nicks them.

I wouldnt pay for Mitutoyo unless I was using it every day.

If you buy an old set you may have worse accuracy than a new cheap set unless it comes calibrated. (Which usually just means tested ok!)
