Hello :)

I Have now decided i am going to be purchasing an EK9 in a few weeks perhaps a month.. but i am going to be selling my MR2 Roadster. its just im a bit confused on the whole Ek9.. i have worked out so far..(Correct me if i am wrong)

There is an EK9 Civic it is 1.6 185bhp, LSD...

There is a face lift model the difference on that is the rear and front bumpers?

The inside on all of them has red ricaro seats.. and red carpet etc..?

face lift has different steering wheel?

Is there anything else i should look for on the civic.. do they rust?

Also i am hopeing to get about 7,000 at least for my MR2 Roadster perhaps even 7,300 or so.. is that enough?

Thanks :)

Type R is Type R, don't worry bro. All EK9 models are of the same quality and the differences affect only the appearance and not the performance. The first EK9 came out on August 1997 and is a 1.6 L, Dohc Vtec engine (B16B)producing 185 hp and 118 lb/ft(16.3 kilos) of torque, transmission equipped with LSD as you said..... and another one came out on 1999 (I think September) and has exactly the same specifications with minor differences in appearance such as bumbers, different steering wheel as you said, aircondition buttons and perhaps something else I might forgot to mention. I don't think there is a place in the site for those who question the quality of the EK9. Jokking:) :D. How many horses does your MR2 produce anyway?

My MR2 Convertible roadster has 138BHP.. i mean ive had 135 out of it.. and it was fully at its fastest and most.. and its 0-60 is a 7.7.. i think its quick.. but i wasnt that impressed.. i mean i went from a 1.1i saxo.. to a 1.8 VVTi Roadster.. and it was impressive at first.. but it wears off after a few weeks? will i have the same effect with the Ek9?

I change my lancer evolution III 280 hp stock, for my EK9 Honda Civic Type R, and every time i drive my car, specially on roads with a lot a corners, there's a big smile in my face, you have to drive and Type R to know what i'm talking about

when i run at the track, i have to run against full race cars, because of the level of perfomance honda gave to the EK9. hehehe! i can't go with the "normal" 1600cc cars.

This also happens to the dc2 integra type r category, they run against full race cars!

In my opinion, when vtec kicks in, there is no better feeling. I can guarantee you that you are gonna feel that you are holding a ferrari at the beginning because there is huge difference from your current car :nice: However, keep in mind that its not a ferrari :( , its just a 1.6 litre N/A engine that makes small miracles. :nice: For this reason, as the time passes, you might feel a similar feeling (but no the same as now) :), but fortunately, there are a LOT aftermarket choices that you can make. If you spend some extra cash and touch it a lit of bit, then I GUARANTEE you an endless pleasure. There is no need to spend extra time thinking on this issue.......you are gonna turn your back to luck!!!

Cant wait now :D

hopefully i want a white one. if i can a facelift one.. but another quick enquirie.. is.. these cars are fast.. so how do i knw the last owner didnt rag the hell out of the engine :S

there designed to be revved and have bullet proof engines to an extent, 7k may not get you a 98+ EK9 due to needing to hire model reports etc

It is a bullet proof engine indeed. However, you still have to take it to a good mechanic not only to check for possible damage (seen by naked eye), but also for what you said, engine wear....Its more difficult to determine the exact engine wear :nerv: but a reliable mechanic can do it. Its easy and beneficial for someone to pay 20 bucks more and turn the engine kilometers covered back in order to sell his EK9 perhaps....$2000 more????

Damn, i hope i dont get a dud one :( with a dodgy clutch or something.. im just a bit worried i fork out 7-8k and get a dud one :(

let me know i can import you one when you want one

i will definatly get back to you mate :), just wondering how does importing work etc.. i mean im not sure.. how do i pay.. and how do i get the car.. :?

Hi m8 good choice.

The face lift had different front bumper, slightly different head lights, more aggressive lines on the bonnet and different rear lights. Engine wise they fitted a EUC exclusive to the face lift (a pain for modifying) that it. The only thing on the interior was the center console with the double dinn stereo hole and round knobs, the rest is all identical.
£7500 ish could get you this face lift

Check for rust in rear arches where they meet bumper, general surface rust on joins and edges under bonnet (only astheticly a prob).

Good luck Dunx
