Project "TK" EM1

Cool!
I also have an EM1 race car ;)
Still fixing a few bits after last year but hope to be out soon...my car looks very similar to yours ;)

Sitting low definitely makes the car feel "longer" as I can not see the hood really...but its nice down low.

How did that valve spring tool work out?
Yeah going to test out to see if my Kirkey will mount in my passenger side PLM seat rails. If they do i may order a pair for the driver side.

As for the tool, should work out well. I'll know more tomorrow when i'm finally getting to the camshaft installation!

Very cool, I know how repairing broken bits can go. This car's had a tough life of racing ever since it was born. Plenty of broken bits on it when i first bought it.

That looks nice :)
Thanks!

Made a little progress on the build. Valve springs and retainers are finally in, only after have a few scares. Dropped a valve keeper down the oil return passage on the head and it fell into the oil pan. Removed the oil pan and found not only the keeper i lost, but another random a spare in the oil pick up. Wasn't missing any so this had to be from whomever worked on this engine before me. Tomorrow heading to autozone to pick up a few essentials.

The random valve keeper found in my oil pickup today. This motor was so well put together it came with spare parts....

New oil pan gasket, cam seals, timing belt, valve cover gasket set, and new pcv valve. I'll be cleaning the oil pan thoroughly tomorrow and installing it back on the block. As well as torquing down the cam caps so the new CTR cams are right at home, hoping I don't have another one snap off on me. Just have to find a good 3/8th torque wrench to use to ensure that all bolts are torqued evenly at 20ft lbs. Once that is complete it'll be time to install the new timing belt and do a valve adjustment before placing the valve cover back on the head.

The bolt that snapped ending my night early on Saturday. Was extracted with the help of my friend and his steady hands with the drill.

Still awaiting the arrival of my ACT clutch and Fidanza 7.5lb flywheel. No clue as to when I'm expected to receive them, fingers are crossed for this week.... Soon as they arrive it'll be a quick install on the motor, as well as bolting on the new JDM ITR trans. Then FINALLY it'll be back in the car.

Honestly I can't wait to hear this thing back up and running, it'll make it all worth while.

Motor awaits final assembly.
