Thought I's start a new thread dedicated to R/C drifting seeing how members responded positivity and were asking questions on another thread.

Guess this thread can be used to share knowledge, experiences, links and for noobs to ask questions.

Guess I'll start, I bought a Tamiya TT-01D about 3 years ago, this;

1/10 R/C Nismo Coppermix Silvia iTT-01Dj Drift Spec

Through the research I had done the phrase "TT-01" ALWAYS keep up as the best base car as it was very very popular thus meaning tons of upgradable parts and loads and loads of shells available!

I have it all built up but I haven't had it out yet, guess towards the end of it I lost interest and other things took priority. But now I want to get it out and get drifting. I guess its an inexpensive hobby and gives me something to tinker with!

Here are 2 videos which I always seem to watch to get me motivated to get back into it all;

SSR Real Drift vol.1 - YouTube

2010 Korea RC Street Drift Challenge - YouTube

If you are looking to purchase one probably the best site to visit is Remote Control Cars and Radio Controlled Cars from Modelsport UK

That is where I got mine from, although when you are buying an R/C car you must also purchase a R/C controller, battery and charger. If you purchase one brand new do not expect it to come pre-built they are not. When I first got mine I was very apprehensive as I had to literally build it from the ground up;

But in hindsight that was ideal as I got to know the car and how it all comes together. You can buy them off eBay second hand but If something was to go wrong you would find it much harder to diagnose the problem.

Thats basically mine, all I now need to do is spray the shell, install the headlights and away I will be going. Once it is all set up I will be purchasing different shells and perhaps stance it alittle. Here are afew examples of what can be done with an R/C car;

Few questions on these is it better to buy a battery powered one or go for the nitro ones i am assuming yours is battery operated
Can shell be swapped around easily once the base is built
What kind of spear parts can be got for these
What speed are they capable of

Through my research I found battery power was alot better. Simply because it was cheaper to buy and people told me they were much easier to drift and upgrade. You still can buy nitro R/C drift cars but I didnt want all that hassle.

To swap a shell its just as easy as removing 4 clip on body pins and thats it! R/C cars come with 2 sorts of body shells 190mm and 200mm. The most common out of the 2 is 190mm

There are a crap load of spare/upgrades available, from motors, drive trains, batteries, suspension, tyres etc. But if you want your RC car to drift more easily you are best focusing on the motor and differentials.

As for speeds, I'm not too sure. I suppose 20MPH or so

Whats the idea behind them then? what makes them drift?

Love that kp61 starlet body shell! Was just looking on eBay earlier at that tt-01 supra kit, could be a good budget starting point

Just reminded me of mine not drift spec tho,still in the cuboard collecting dust along with other old r/c cars i had,ill have to dig it out n have a blast now:drive:,must say tho cant beat nitro for speed and the noise i had 1/8 buggy and it was a bloody evil thing but awesome:nice:

makes me really want to get mine back out, its a proper laugh if you have a few of you with them

Yer I have one of these. Been in the garage sitting for a while. Need to get it back out :)
